1x Fox Creek Reserve Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Some of the fruit here comes off a McLaren Vale vineyard planted back in 1910 - gnarly old bush vines that have been tended by three generations of the same family. It’s a patch of dirt with deep clay soils, east-west rows to shield the fruit from the harsh summer sun, and roots that stretch forever thanks to access to good water. Translation? Vines that dig deep and deliver concentration, balance and serious power. This wine has helped put this producer firmly on the map - it's the flagship. It’s approachable enough to drink young if you can’t wait, but built for the cellar if you’ve got patience. Either way, it’s a reserve-level shiraz with history in its bones and proof in the pudding.

We don't say this often. This producer is genuinely one of the best in the country, arguably one of the best anywhere Shiraz gets made. That's not just our words, Robert Parker called them, "one of planet earth's greatest winemakers". Developed, complex, smooth... This is one for people who take their Shiraz seriously. Get your nose in and it's an immediate gift for your senses - black cherry, blueberry and tangy currant, tangled up with crushed rose petal, peppercorn and olive tapenade, plus that distinctly McLaren Vale smoky, meaty undertone running underneath. Layered, savoury, hard to look away from. The palate is a different kind of statement entirely, leather, ripe dark fruit, tobacco notes and an otherworldly velvety mouthfeel, yet, there's real structure here. Time has done its job here. The edges have softened, everything's settled into place, and this is drinking exactly how it was always intended - developed, harmonious, deep. Very few Shiraz in the country are sitting at this stage of their life right now. This is a great opportunity.

1x Hardy's Tintara Blewitt Springs Shiraz 2018
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Tried, tasted, guzzled and enjoyed. Blewitt Springs has been consistently popping out some of the best Shiraz in McLaren Vale for years and this is no exception. Bold and bright but softened with age. The price on this one feels like a glitch, delicious wine. The Blewitt Springs area of McLaren Vale has a pretty good argument for becoming a fully fledged sub-region. Known for exceptional natural acidity and enduring, plush fruit, the sandy soils really lend themselves to a modern expression of McLaren Vale shiraz with an old school twist. Dark fruit, wonderful acid and that classic chocolatey note that you'd expect from a wine that's spent 18 months in French oak barrels. What more could you want from Australia's favourite variety - Shiraz all over.

1x d'Arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz 2019

Impossible to overstate the excellence on offer here. This is superb stuff. There is so much complexity and depth to the wine, something new is ready to reveal itself with every sip. Cassis and black cherry out of the gate. Some riper, richer plums and brambles mix with roasted vegetables and sweet spice. It's powerful but never overbearing, full and rich but precise and focused - everything is as it should be. A wine with genuine presence on the palate. Oomph that doesn't veer into being unctuous. The structure of the wine will ensure it is long lived; while drinking brilliantly now, this is a wine with a conservative two decades left in the tank.

1x Mitolo Wines Cantiniere Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
As impressive as it is expressive, this McLaren Vale Shiraz comes from a producer with decades of proven form for building rich, deep, indulgent reds - and this keeps that streak going, backed by a well-earned 96-point score. Silky and full-bodied, it's McLaren Vale through and through. Dark and brooding from the outset, with bold black fruit, classic chocolatey character and a touch of coffee bean running through a powerful, well-balanced palate. Firm but friendly tannins give it real structure, with a savoury edge on the finish that keeps things interesting. Drinking beautifully now, with the backbone to keep going through to 2037. Serious McLaren Vale Shiraz, with the score to prove it.

From one of the top three selling producers in Vinomofo history! When one of Australia's most famous wine families put this much effort into a Cabernet - you know you're in for something special. And special doesn't even begin to cover it with this one. Strong blackcurrant on the nose, with tobacco, black olive, mushroom and freshly turned earth adding a savoury depth that builds beautifully in the glass. Nineteen months in French oak has done its job seamlessly - adding richness and structure without ever getting in the way of the fruit. The palate is rich and focused, with chocolate, cassis and fine dusty tannins carrying everything through to a long, poised finish. Delicious right now. Built for at least two decades of development. You literally cannot go wrong with this wine
