Why do we love this case?

Owned by the Angas family (yes, that Angas family), Hutton Vale Farm is an iconic piece of Barossa history. Having reared various stock on the Hutton Vale Farm for over a century, in 1987, John Duval (iconic Penfolds Grange winemaker) mentored the family and helped them produce their first wines in 1987. The provenance of these wines is astounding, and we're incredibly lucky to be able to bring you a curated selection of our favourite (aged) Hutton Vale Farm cabernets.

Included in this case:

2x Hutton Vale Farm Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Eden Valley — Australia

Low-yielding, high quality vineyards are what Hutton Vale Farm are all about. This is must have been a beast in its youth because an aged wine, we're blown away but the concentration and power of the fruit. A distinctly varietal nose with blackberry, cassis, pencil shavings and mint. The palate shows us the value of bottle-ageing premium cabernet; leather, tobacco, french oak and spice take the lead whilst velvet-like tannins and subtle natural acid build a lengthy, satisfying finish. To put it simply, tasty, textured and downright tremendous.

2x Hutton Vale Farm Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Eden Valley — Australia

26 months in 35% new French oak is nothing to shake your head at. That means a couple of things. It means this is a serious wine, it means the wine has concentrated fruit, it means the wine has gorgeous natural acid and it means that this wine was constructed to live long in the cellar of anyone with the patience. Juicy blackcurrant and blackberry flavours, velvety tannins and remarkable oak notes of pencil shavings, spice and vanilla. The acid and tannin in this wine are pure and enduring, this is by no means finished ageing and, although drinking beautifully now, will go for much longer. If we're honest, we're going to drink it now, we've been eyeing this one for a few years and have lost our patience, we very highly recommend that you test yours.
