Why do we love this case?

Centuries of hard study and impossible calculations by boffins all over the world have gotten us no closer to figuring out whether we prefer gris or grigio. And you know what, we're happy sitting on the fence. In this case, you'll get to explore the wonders of both styles. It’s pretty much the best way to get around the grape.

2x Viveur Pinot Gris 2022

White — Pinot Gris

Limestone Coast — Australia

This pinot gris is all about great winemaking. It’s an idea that seems rather obvious, doesn’t it? We’re not just talking about standard, good, everyday wine here. No no. This is an outstanding drop from Dan Berrigan, one of our favourite winemakers on the scene. These wines are fun, playful, energetic and geared for drinking on every occasion (no, apparently, a glass of gris with breakfast on a Tuesday doesn’t regularly fall into that category). But hey, you try and keep your hands off!

You'd pay $30 full price.

2x Windowrie Estate Pig in the House Pinot Gris 2021

White — Pinot Gris

Central Ranges — Australia

A bright, snappy gris. Fresh and lifted stone fruit aromatics leap out of the glass. The palate is quite soft and supple; apricot cream and lemon pith. There's a little bit of rocky minerality o offer, too. This is classic, generous pinot gris that remains true to style.

You'd pay $26 full price.

2x Eight at the Gate Pinot Gris 2023

White — Pinot Gris

Wrattonbully — Australia

Apples and pears at the fore. Mineral and energetic on the finish. There's some white flower and blossom accents that add complexity. Pithy, citrusy, tensile. A little bit of time on skins (just a touch) adds breadth and palate weight, making for a full and complete drinking experience. Bright acid persists through the finish - lively and crisp. Salut!

2x Paul Nelson De Taillevent Pinot Grigio 2023

White — Pinot Grigio

Great Southern — Australia

A brilliant all rounder. Peach and apricot fruit cup overlays tart green apple and winter pear. There is steeliness, too, which speaks to the grigio style. The acid sits low in the wine giving the stone fruit profie lift and drive without overtaking and consuming the wine. Perfect grigio, full marks.

You'd pay $29 full price.

2x Twin Valleys Pinot Grigio 2023

White — Pinot Grigio

King Valley — Australia

Italy’s leading grape varieties have an established home in the King Valley, including the ever-popular pinot grigio. This example of the grape is bright with citrus and pear on the nose and freshness from the nose to the palate with a crisp, mineral finish. When given more time to develop in the glass, the wine shares a greater depth to its expression. Ripe red apple, nashi pear, and hints of sherbet on the nose. From a weekend BBQ to a plate of spaghetti marinara over candlelight, it’s a flexible food wine that is sure to please.

You'd pay $25 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

While both come from the same grape variety, the difference lies in winemaking philosophy and regional tradition. Pinot Gris (French style) typically offers richer, more textured wines with stone fruit flavours like peach and apricot, while Pinot Grigio (Italian style) tends to be lighter, crisper, and more citrus-driven with lemon and grapefruit notes. This mixed pack lets you explore both approaches, showcasing how winemaking technique can dramatically influence the same grape's expression.

Yes, this selection includes vegan-friendly options, which means they've been made without using animal-derived fining agents like egg whites or isinglass. Many modern winemakers are moving towards vegan practices, using alternatives like bentonite clay or plant-based proteins for clarification. This approach often results in wines that better reflect their terroir, as minimal intervention allows the grape's natural character to shine through.

The diverse flavour profile spanning from grassy herbaceous notes to stone fruits makes this collection incredibly food-friendly. The lighter Grigio styles complement seafood, fresh salads, and Asian cuisine beautifully, while the richer Gris expressions pair wonderfully with roasted chicken, creamy pasta dishes, or soft cheeses. The citrus and apple notes make them excellent aperitif wines, while the peach and apricot characteristics work brilliantly with spicy dishes or fruit-based desserts.

Single vineyard wines represent the purest expression of a specific site's terroir, showcasing how soil, climate, and elevation influence grape character. Including these alongside multi-vineyard blends creates an educational tasting experience, allowing you to compare how site-specific factors affect the same grape variety. Single vineyard bottlings often display more distinctive personality and complexity, making them perfect for understanding the nuanced differences between Gris and Grigio styles.

Boutique producers typically focus on small-batch, hands-on winemaking that prioritises quality over quantity. These smaller operations often experiment with innovative techniques, harvest by hand, and maintain closer relationships with their vineyards, resulting in wines with distinct personality and character. The inclusion of staff picks and highly-rated boutique wines in this selection ensures you're experiencing crafted expressions that showcase the winemaker's individual vision rather than mass-produced commercial styles.
