1x Maverick Wines Ahrens’ Creek Shiraz 2022

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

Broad, powerful, concentrated and dense. This is a big deal. The term 'Ancestor Vines' is reserved only for vineyards planted over 125 years ago. This places them as right up there with some of the oldest living shiraz vines in the entire world, and in this case, they absolutely live up to the hype. As a general rule, the older the vines, the better the wines. But why? Well, the simplified answer is that as grape vines mature they begin to produce less fruit. As a result, all of the energy, all of the sun and soil, all of the flavour is condensed into less grapes, so you end up with highly concentrated, perfectly balanced fruit with the capacity to create extremely low quantity, extremely high quality wines that could out-last religion. This gorgeous wine is everything you'd expect from these world-famous vines and more. It’s wonderfully structured, with line and length that promise both immediate enjoyment and serious longevity. Drink it now for its richness and polish, or let it evolve in the cellar through to 2042 and beyond, gaining complexity along the way. This is the kind of wine that rewards patience but doesn’t demand it - powerful yet refined, age-worthy yet approachable. We're all over this one!

You'd pay $320 full price.

1x Schild Estate Three Springs Shiraz 2021

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

This particular vineyard, in the Rowland Flat area of the Barossa, sits at 380m above sea-level. At this altitude, Barossa vineyards traditionally produce much lower yields creating highly concentrated fruit of exceptional quality. From the first whiff it's quite apparent, this is a really smart wine. A perfumed nose of the expected dark fruits with floral elements of rose petal and violets. On the palate, juicy plums, dark chocolate, pepper, spice and, of course, a long, smooth, oak-driven finish. This drop is as intense as it is complex and will continue to impress for many years to come. Very, very impressive.

You'd pay $180 full price.

1x St Hugo Private Collection Shiraz 2016

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

Cherry and spice announce themselves early, lifted and vivid, carrying into a palate that's medium-to-full-bodied in weight but rich in texture. Those same red cherry and spice notes run right through, held together by fine tannins and finishing smooth, with real length. Ready to enjoy tonight, or happy to keep developing for years to come. Don't miss out on this opportunity.

You'd pay $155 full price.

1x Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 2015

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

For over 30 years this wine has been spoken about in the same breath as the greatest Shiraz produced anywhere in the country. That's not marketing. That's just the truth. The philosophy behind this wine is beautifully simple: find the very best fruit in the Barossa - the small, intensely concentrated parcels that outperform everything around them - and get out of the way. Over three decades of doing exactly that has produced a wine of legendary status. What was once powerful, muscular and demanding has evolved into something genuinely magnificent. The grunt is still very much there - this is Barossa Shiraz with serious backbone and presence - but time has worked its magic. The tannins have settled into something silky and sophisticated, the dark fruit has deepened and complexified, and the ironstone, graphite and earthy minerality that defines this wine has come into beautiful focus. This is a collector's wine. A cellar wine. A once-in-a-while, pour-it-for-someone-special wine.

You'd pay $120 full price.

1x Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga Shiraz 2010

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

Get your nose in and it's an immediate gift for your senses - black cherry, blueberry and tangy currant, tangled up with crushed rose petal, peppercorn and olive tapenade, plus that distinctly McLaren Vale smoky, meaty undertone running underneath. Layered, savoury, hard to look away from. The palate is a different kind of statement entirely, leather, ripe dark fruit, tobacco notes and an otherworldly velvety mouthfeel, yet, there's real structure here. Time has done its job here. The edges have softened, everything's settled into place, and this is drinking exactly how it was always intended - developed, harmonious, deep. Very few Shiraz in the country are sitting at this stage of their life right now. This is a great opportunity.

You'd pay $100 full price.

1x Dalwhinnie Moonambel Shiraz 2017

Red — Shiraz

Pyrenees — Australia

It's hard to justify even writing this tasting note, as it'll all be sold out by them time anyone gets a chance to read it. In any case, the wine: blueberries and black cherries over vanilla, eucalypt, and sweet spice. Liquorice and fruit compote follow neatly, deftly behind the initial fruit burst. Among many things, this wine is further proof of the superiority of the stelvin closure as opposed to cork for ageing cool climate reds. This is wine made with the cellar in mind. It is just now hitting its stride, and what a stride it is. The fruit is remarkably fresh, but no aged characteristics like leather, wet earth and game have been sacrificed whatsoever. The density of the fruit is framed by maturity without being swamped by it, and the wine is able to hold its form through a lasting finish. This is truly a deal to jump at, and one you won't see again.

You'd pay $96 full price.
