Why do we love this case?
This is the cream of the crop, a case with the whole fruit salad of varieties - something for all of your dinner guests.
What is a 5 Red Star winery you ask?
Well... It’s a Halliday rating for a winery that has consistently produced wines of “exemplary quality and typicity”. To have a 5 RED star rating the winery has to have held a 5 Star rating for a minimum of 4 years! - Basically you know these folk aren’t messing about!
2x Pikes Settler's Cottage Shiraz 2019
Red — Shiraz
Clare Valley — Australia
If you were hanging out in South Australia in the 1880’s, you’d know Pikes for their beers. Fast forward 100 years and and several generations and the Pike family has firmly established themselves as one of the premier wine producers in the Clare Valley. Hops and grapevines, a rather abstract take on the tradition family tree. Their Settler’s Cottage shiraz speaks loudly of the Clare style; bracingly fresh, with aromas turned up to full volume and strikingly fine tannins. This is savoury, sumptuous superb shiraz.
You’d pay $40 full price.

2x Amelia Park Ironstone Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
Frankland River — Australia
This wine is, without doubt, one of the most popular we’ve ever seen at Vinomofo. How popular is popular, you ask? Well, thirsty mofos took over 30,000 bottles of a previous vintage straight out of our hands. Yup. We know it’s a great wine deal but when our mofo members are this unanimous in their desire for this drop; well it’s simply cause for one big shiraz gluggin’ celebration.
Full bodied and silky smooth with lashings of plums and earthy spice; if you’re quaffing this Frankland River gem on a week night, know you’re in good company alongside many a mofo. With one fist in the air (and the other holding a glass of this wine) we salute you!
You’d pay $33 full price.

2x Haselgrove Seunta Shiraz 2017
Red — Shiraz
South Australia — Australia
This South Aussie shiraz is a blend of McLaren and Padthaway - two regions famous for their wonderful reds. And wonderful indeed it is - made by a mofo fave producer for an export market that fell though - we were very happy when they called us. A full-bodied wine, leaning towards the more savoury side, it’s still full of bright red fruit, spice and soft smooth tannins. It’s drinking well now, but will improve over the next year or so.
You’d pay $28 full price.

2x Kilikanoon Golden Hillside Shiraz Cabernet 2018
Red — Shiraz Blend
Clare Valley — Australia
“It’s immediately appealing on the nose showing blackcurrant, dark plum, thyme and warm spice aromas, leading to a succulent palate offering plump mouthfeel and smooth texture. Harmonious with generous fruit intensity, finishing lingering and juicy” - Wine Orbit
This wine needs almost no introduction. Last vintage hundreds of cases sold out in record time, and once you try it, you’ll understand why. This is legendary Clare Valley shiraz cab. Black fruit and liquorice over earthy and spicy undertones, held together with a lashing of toasty oak that melds into the wine seamlessly. It’s a classic style that changes minimally from vintage to vintage, and it’s bloody great. It’s got the same supreme freshness as a feature, with depth and darkness, and just a touch of mint. There’s no questioning the impeccable quality of this wine.
You’d pay $45 full price.

2x Penley Estate Erin Grace Shiraz Cabernet 2021
Red — Cabernet Blend
Coonawarra — Australia
If you know Coonawarra, we bet you know the makers behind this wine. Each of their wines ooze with sophistication and skill. This is a soaring blend of shiraz and cabernet -a classically Aussie blend we should note- that provides supple jubey fruits in equal measures as fine tannins, vibrant freshness, and a velvety smooth finish. You’ll find yourself reaching for a bottle of this without hesitation, whatever the occasion.
You’d pay $25 full price.

Tasting Notes
2x Thistledown Wild & Wilder 'Pugilist' Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Langhorne Creek — Australia
This pan-South Aussie producer is fast becoming a mofo favourite across their delicious red and white wines. They seek out parcels of quality grapes in Barossa, McLaren and in this case the maritime region of Langhorne Creek. Their wines are made to a high-standard across the range and are reliably delicious. This cabernet shows off a perfumed nose of flowers, juicy plums and dried herbs, followed by a medium-bodied, ripe and textured palate. There’s a gentle earthiness in the wine that is wrapped in blackberries and a lingering olive tapenade finish.
You’d pay $22 full price.
