1x Mitolo Savitar Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Wonderfully textured, the wine is built around a long mineral acidity which carries intensity through the palate. White pepper, cedar and elegant allspice notes linger throughout the lengthy, linear finish. Matured for 20 months in 85% new French, 5% New American and 10% Seasoned French Oak hogshead barrels - drink it now or dig a hole in your backyard and forget about it. You could age this one for 15 years if you wanted but we're willing to bet you won't be able to keep your hands off it for that long!
You’d pay $105 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Dalwhinnie Moonambel Shiraz 2017
Red — Shiraz
Pyrenees — Australia
It's hard to justify even writing this tasting note, as it'll all be sold out by them time anyone gets a chance to read it. In any case, the wine: blueberries and black cherries over vanilla, eucalypt, and sweet spice. Liquorice and fruit compote follow neatly, deftly behind the initial fruit burst. Among many things, this wine is further proof of the superiority of the stelvin closure as opposed to cork for ageing cool climate reds. This is wine made with the cellar in mind. It is just now hitting its stride, and what a stride it is. The fruit is remarkably fresh, but no aged characteristics like leather, wet earth and game have been sacrificed whatsoever. The density of the fruit is framed by maturity without being swamped by it, and the wine is able to hold its form through a lasting finish. This is truly a deal to jump at, and one you won't see again.
You’d pay $96 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Clarendon Hills Liandra Shiraz 2016
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
We're not overstating it when we say that this winemaker is genuinely one of the greatest producers in Australia (if not the world) - yep, seriously. They're responsible for some of the most esteemed wines that this country has to offer and are actually attributed with pioneering "Single-Vineyard" wines in this country. Strikingly perfumed, infinitely complex and downright delicious. One for collectors and serious shiraz lovers - this'll make your mates jealous.
The second you get a whiff of this it's absolute fireworks. Think black cherry, blueberry and tangy currant all tangled up with crushed rose petal, peppercorn and olive tapenade. There’s even that classic McLaren Vale smoky-meaty thing - just another layer of complexity. It’s seductive, savoury, and utterly impossible to ignore. Then the palate hits - taut, focused, and built like a brick you-know-what. Crunchy acidity, fine talc-like tannins, and a slow build of dark fruit, French oak and spice that keeps unravelling layer after layer. It’s got muscle, sure, but it’s no brute. To use the cliche, this is an iron fist in a velvet glove - power, polish, and serious cellar potential. To drink now, decant it and pair it with a fat steak or roast lamb and you’ll be grinning. Or, if you’ve got patience (and a strong will), stash it 'til 2092 and watch it morph into something truffly, earthy and deeply complex. Completely breathtaking.
You’d pay $75 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Tyrrell's Stevens Single Vineyard Shiraz 2023
Red — Shiraz
Hunter Valley — Australia
When Stevens Vineyard shiraz earns 95 points, you're dealing with Hunter Valley at its absolute best. The vintage conditions were near perfect. Abundant spring rain provided great soil moisture heading into the dry summer months, while the harvest period was stress-free without adverse conditions. And here's the result - an exceptional Hunter Valley vintage that produced well-balanced, complex wines with remarkable fruit purity. Hand harvested on 20 February at the coldest part of the day, fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks before nine months maturation in a single four-year-old French oak cask, then five more months in puncheons. The winemaking respects both the fruit and the vineyard's reputation. Huon Hooke awarded this 95 points, calling it "outstanding wine" with "intensity, concentration and drive, but not at the expense of elegance." Bright red with purple hues, sweet red fruit aromatics highlighted with cranberry, velvety tannins coating the palate with directional dark cherry and a clean, neat finish.
You’d pay $60 full price.

1x Head Wines 'The Contrarian' Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
This isn't your over-ripe, over-jammy Barossa bruiser. This fabulous winemaker deliberately sources fruit from granite-based vineyards, right on the border of Eden and Barossa, that ripen at lower alcohols, then adds serious whole-bunch fermentation for a spicier, more dialled-in shiraz. 95 points from Halliday and a raft of shout-outs from the big reviewers prove that sometimes being contrary pays off spectacularly.
You’d pay $40 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Grampians — Australia
Mount Langi Ghiran. If you know, you know. This is the benchmark name for cool-climate shiraz in the Victoria, if not Australia, and the Cliff Edge is your golden ticket to their world of stylish, spicy reds without having to fork out flagship dollars. The 2021 vintage was an absolute dream. Long, cool, and steady, with just enough sunshine to coax every bit of character from the vines. Mount Langi have seriously cashed in here: red and black cherries, raspberry and blackberry in perfect tandem, backed up by super-fine tannins and bright natural acid. That unmistakable crack of Grampians black pepper rides through the whole thing like a signature and rounds out a thoroughly cool-climate wine. Aged in mostly older oak to let the fruit shine, it’s already drinking beautifully now, but has the bones to cellar a few years if you’re into delayed gratification. If you want a shiraz that hits the sweet-spot - refined, regional, and seriously drinkable - this one’s a no-brainer.
You’d pay $35 full price.
