1x Orlando Jacaranda Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Barossa
The terra rossa soils, cool climate and meticulous winemaking all come together here to give cabernet its truest voice. The nose is textbook Coonawarra: cassis and blackberry leaf leading the charge, followed by darker berry fruits, savoury leather, spice and a touch of French oak. On the palate it’s all about precision and drive - concentrated black fruit wrapped in a tight tannin frame, with bright acidity giving lift and clarity. Toasted cedar and subtle oak notes play in the background, adding polish without stealing the show. This is cabernet with backbone - a wine built to age gracefully, but already showing the elegance and intensity that makes Coonawarra one of the world’s greatest cab regions. Drink it now with a good decant alongside roast lamb or venison, or tuck it away for 10-15 years and watch it evolve into something truly special.

1x Penley Estate Steyning Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Barossa
Premium cab from Coonawarra doesn’t easily come at this price, just so you know. So just feel a little bit special being here, with us and this wine, right now. This is one of those wines that reminds us of the golden era of wine quality-meets-affordability. It’s full-bodied but lithe at the same time - deep and rich, but with composure and purpose. This winery’s put a lot of time, energy and money into making their wines relatable to the current climate of Coonawarra, and we’re reaping the rewards in stacks of quality wine. Bravo.

Tasting Notes
1x Robert Oatley Vineyards Finisterre Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Margaret River — Barossa
The nose opens with cherry ripe and hints of vanilla. There’s obvious oak which, rather than overpower and detract from the fruit, merely adds another element of interest. It’s savoury with a gutsy core of savouriness, umami maybe? And that’s just the nose. Spice features early on the palate followed by a surge of fruit that runs through the spectrum of red to black. The tannin structure is bold and confident keeping everything in place. It finishes long and dry leaving you wondering what just happened. The fact there is so much going on and it remains entirely integrated is fascinating. Best go back for another look we say. Be warned though, you’ll probably be staring at the bottom of the bottle by the time you come to terms with each of the elements that make up this wine, it is intriguing. You could watch the bottle evolve over a few days and still discover something new with each sip.
You’d pay $45 full price.

1x Deep Woods Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Margaret River — Barossa
2020 was an absolute cracker for Cabernet in Margaret River - the kind of vintage that makes winemakers feel like they’ve just won the lottery. Grab some primo Wilyabrup and Yallingup fruit, a clever hand in the winery, and 18 months maturation in a mix of new and seasoned oak, and you’ve got yourself a Cabernet worth writing home (or bragging online) about. We're completely stoked with this one. Stick your nose in and it’s a full-on sensory adventure: dark plum, cassis, cocoa dust, mulberry, aniseed, a little eucalyptus lift and that sophisticated brambly edge that just whispers “Margs”. The palate's a whole new adventure in itself... Plush, powerful and perfectly balanced - purple fruit, dusty chocolate tannins and a cheeky lick of liquorice on the finish. The kind of wine that disappears before you realise how generous you’ve been with your pour. And sure, you could cellar it until 2030 and watch it develop into something completely new… but honestly, it’s already dangerously delicious. Light the fire, grab a good hunk of cheddar, and let this cabernet do its thing. A Margaret River classic that nails the balance between grunt and grace. It’s rich, romantic and just a little bit too easy to drink - perfect for anyone who loves their reds dark, structured, and impossible to resist.

1x Rymill Classic Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Barossa
Complex, harmonious and elegant, this is a beautiful tribute to Coonawarra. Bestowed with a 4.1 Vivino rating (at time of writing) and made by one of the region’s most beloved wineries, it comes as no surprise that the identity of this distinctive red needs to be concealed - especially at this price. A symphony of juicy plum, blackcurrant, bay leaf and eucalypt combine with dense fruit cake and dark chocolate, leading to a plush and lingering crescendo.
You’d pay $39 full price.

1x DiGiorgio Family Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Barossa
This is a wine that encapsulates everything that we love about Australia’s most iconic cabernet region, Coonawarra. Deep, dark-fruited intensity, met with smooth, well-integrated oak and that eucalypty hint that we all know so well. This lot have created an absolute cracker here - no surprises, they do every year. From the exceptional 2021 vintage, this is full-bodied cabernet that lets the terroir do the talking. Produced by certified Coonawara royalty, it’s bursting with ripe blackcurrant, blueberry and boysenberry, but layered with distinctive mint and eucalypt that let you know exactly where this wine's from. Eighteen months in a mix of French and American oak (35% new) brings a lick of toasty vanilla, spice and richness to the palate, while fine, mature tannins and bright acidity keep it all perfectly in check. Open-top fermentation and mature vines have lent a softness and depth to the wine, making it immensely enjoyable now, with the structure to cellar confidently for 8-10 years. It’s bold, it’s balanced, to be honest, in our eyes, it's perfect.
You’d pay $35 full price.
