2x L'enclos du Tertre Shiraz Temp Grenache 2017
Red — Shiraz Blend
Frankland River — Australia
Three grapes. One genuinely brilliant red wine. Shiraz brings the richness and depth. Grenache adds substance and a lifted red fruit quality. Tempranillo contributes structure and a savoury, earthy complexity that ties the whole thing together beautifully. Together they produce something greater than any of them could manage alone. Frankland River is the best place in WA for this kind of wine - cool enough for finesse, warm enough for generosity, and with a natural character that suits this particular trio of varieties perfectly. Fragrant red and black fruit on the nose, with cedar, tobacco and a forest floor earthiness that makes it genuinely intriguing. The palate is plush and medium-weighted, with red berry fruit, brown spice and dried herbs adding a savoury depth and a fanning, lacy tannin finish that lingers long and satisfyingly. Tertiary characters are already emerging - meaning this is in a lovely drinking spot right now, with plenty more to reveal over the coming years.

2x Lambert Estate Mustang Sally Shiraz 2023
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Juicy, polished Barossa Shiraz that hits the sweet spot between richness and drinkability. A guaranteed crowd-pleaser from first pour to last. A bright, modern Barossa expression that balances generosity with real polish. It opens with juicy plum, blackberry and a lift of sweet spice, then settles into a smooth, mouth-filling palate that still keeps some freshness in the tank. There’s enough Barossa richness to satisfy the big-red crowd, but it avoids heaviness thanks to clean fruit and smart, understated oak. The finish is silky, warming and seriously moreish. It’s the kind of Shiraz you pour for anyone and know they’ll be happy.

2x Auld Family Wines Black Pulp Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Barossa — Australia
The Black Pulp is exactly the kind of wine that makes Barossa cab so endlessly exciting. Rich, flavourful and unmistakably varietal - this is cabernet sauvignon doing what cabernet sauvignon does when it's grown somewhere warm enough to ripen properly and made by people who genuinely care about what they're doing. The Aulds have been growing vines in the Barossa since the mid-1800s. That's not just a heritage story - that's a dynasty. Sam and Jock are the latest chapter in a family legacy that stretches back further than most Australian wineries have even existed, and every bottle they make carries the weight of that history without ever taking itself too seriously. Blackcurrant, dark plum and a classic cabernet structure on the nose, with the depth and generosity of Barossa fruit coming through on a palate that's rich, satisfying and completely true to the variety. No pretence, no over-complication - just excellent Barossa Cab at a price that makes grabbing a case feel like the sensible and responsible thing to do.

2x Aramis White Label Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
This little beauty is punching above its weight and then some. From an enviably located vineyard whose fruit is in high demand from very prestigious Vale producers, this small batch producer holds back some parcels to craft this delicious drop. Every single review on this wine mentions value for money, and they're talking full rrp when they do, so this is an epic deal here. It walks a perfectly balanced line between opulent and elegant, earthy and fruit-forward, intenisty and complexity.

2x Madfish Cabernet Blend 2022
Red — Cabernet Blend
Western Australia — Australia
Sometimes a wine doesn't need a complicated story. It just needs to be really, really good. And this one is really, really good. The tannins are soft and pillowy, the structure is perfectly pitched and the finish is long enough to keep you thinking about that first sip for hours. Cedar spice, mint, dusty cocoa and dried sage on the nose - savoury and completely inviting before you've even taken a sip. The palate opens up into ripe raspberry, red liquorice and baking spices, with chocolate undertones and a generosity of red fruit that makes it genuinely hard to put down. Balanced acidity, powdery tannins and an earthy depth that gives it character well beyond what you'd expect at this price. Crack one open tonight alongside something slow-cooked . Or tuck a few away for the next few years and let it develop into a whole different beast.
You'd pay $23 full price.

2x Peter Lehmann Layers Red 2021
Red — Shiraz Blend
Barossa — Australia
This bombshell Barossa blend comes from a producer so iconic we’re shocked they even had any stock for us - and trust us, that alone should get your heart rate up. A cheeky, yet well thought out shiraz blend, this one's all about bold flavours and a silky-smooth texture. Great stuff. In the glass it pops a vibrant crimson - extremely bright and alive. From the first sniff, you start picking up dark cherry, spice and a little something savoury that tells you this isn’t your average mid-week red. Shiraz brings the power and depth, tempranillo locks in that firm, savoury edge, and mourvèdre throws in its trademark wild, earthy charm. Then grenache swoops in like the glue that holds the whole thing together, smoothing the palate and lifting the aromatics. The end result is a silky, seamless blend with real Barossa muscle but none of the sluggishness. Plush fruit, spice, texture and length for days.
