2x Hollick Red Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Estate fruit from the famed Hollick vineyards in Coonawarra, this is cab sauv like Aussies know and love. Certainly, a little bit of age behind this number has helped to fill out the mid palate, making it rich and dense with threads of fennel and mint throughout. It's very hard not to enjoy this wine- and we're speaking from experience.

You'd pay $35 full price.

2x Mitolo Wines Jester Black Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

McLaren Vale — Australia

Everything you want in a fun glass of cabernet, and more. Super aromatic, bursting with blackberry, morello cherry and chocolate: this cabernet is drool worthy. This is a jaw-dropping value delight from a McLaren Vale winery many a Mofo has fallen in love with - Mitolo. The thing about Mitolo is, once you fall in love, you're in love forever... This wine is built to entertain; its reason for being is to let the good times roll. Think jubilant, ripe fruit flavours with plushness to spare. A solid sprinkling of tannin keeps the edges in check and adds a bit of seriousness to this dribble-inducing cabernet. These pguys don't ever miss the mark, so you know you're in good hands here.

You'd pay $30 full price.

2x Fox Creek Maslin Sands Red Blend MV

Red — Shiraz Blend

South Australia — Australia

A cabernet sauvignon-driven blend of four varietals across multiple vintages - this is winemaking strategy at its smartest. By blending the best parcels from different varieties, the winemaker has created consistency without compromise: a go-to beauty that delivers big, bold character bottle after bottle. This is red wine for people who know what they want: power, depth, and unapologetic flavour intensity. Packed with berries and cocoa, it hits that sweet spot where fruit meets sophistication. Dark cherry, leather, tar, and blackberry create layers of complexity, while smooth tannins and balanced acidity ensure this wine drinks beautifully right now.

You'd pay $20 full price.

2x Terra Vino Shiraz 2023

Red — Shiraz

Langhorne Creek — Australia

Mid-week, midnight, mid-meeting - there's no situation that's not going to be elevated by a glass of this stunner. It was basically impossible not to make outstanding wine in 2023, and you can taste the depth of flavour and fruit intensity with every sip. Deep purple and deeply delicious. This Langhorne Creek shiraz brings all the fruit and then some; dark berries, black cherries, floral spice and a lick of chocolate leap from the glass. On the palate, it’s plush and powerful, with that fruit that carries all the way through to a long, seamless finish. Balanced and bold, this is the kind of wine that just works - particularly with Italian food (thank us later).

Frequently Asked Questions

This collection brings together premium boutique producers and Five Red Star Halliday rated wineries at prices that significantly undercut their usual retail value. The term 'dangerous' reflects how these wines punch well above their weight class, featuring iconic producers and killer vintages that would typically cost much more individually. With ratings up to 94 points from Wine Orbit and strong Vivino scores, you're getting serious quality without the premium price tag.

This diverse selection spans multiple Australian regions, showcasing the country's varied terroir through different varietals including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and red blends. The mix includes established regions known for full-bodied reds, from Coonawarra's terra rossa soils that produce elegant Cabernet Sauvignon to various Shiraz regions that deliver the spice and power these wines are known for. This variety allows you to explore different Australian wine styles in one convenient package.

These wines deliver a rich tapestry of dark fruit flavours including blackberry, plum, and blackcurrant, complemented by savoury elements like black olive and cedar from oak ageing. The spice component ranges from warm allspice to distinctive eucalyptus notes that are hallmarks of Australian reds, while chocolate undertones add depth and complexity. The full-bodied nature means these wines have substantial tannin structure and concentrated flavours that will develop beautifully with proper cellaring.

Yes, these wines are vegan-friendly, meaning they've been produced without using animal-derived fining agents like egg whites, isinglass, or gelatin during the clarification process. Instead, the winemakers have used plant-based or mineral fining agents, or allowed natural settling to achieve clarity. This approach is increasingly common among quality Australian producers who recognise the growing demand for vegan wines without compromising on flavour or quality.

Serve these full-bodied reds at cellar temperature (16-18°C) to allow their complex flavours to fully express themselves - too warm and the alcohol becomes prominent, too cold and the flavours are muted. The diverse flavour profile makes them excellent with grilled meats, aged cheeses, and rich pasta dishes, while the cedar and spice notes complement barbecued lamb or beef perfectly. Decanting an hour before serving will help soften the tannins and allow the wines to breathe, especially for the more structured Cabernet Sauvignons.
