2x Reschke Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Limestone Coast — Australia

South Australia’s Limestone Coast is not quite as famous as a few neighbouring regions, and as a result the value to be found there is staggering. At this price, get set for your mind to be blown. It’s got the trademark florality of your classic coonawarra cabs, although we’re talking more intense black forest fruits and pepper rather than your typical violets and berries. If you're anything like us, you'll be astounded at the value here.

You'd pay $25 full price.

2x Gemtree Wines Bloodstone Shiraz 2019

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

Gemtree- what can we say. They've truly carved their icon status out of the rock in the Vale. There's nothing but focus on detail with this crew, particularly if you take note of the organic & biodynamic practices that they adhere to. The Bloodstone shiraz is one of those 'if you know you know' wines, serving up immense value. Robustly aromatic, making the drinking experience all the more heightened. There's blackcurrant, black plums, cherry cola, with a gentle spice running from start to end.

You'd pay $22 full price.

2x Thistledown Wild & Wilder 'Pugilist' Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Langhorne Creek — Australia

This pan-South Aussie producer is fast becoming a mofo favourite across their delicious red and white wines. They seek out parcels of quality grapes in Barossa, McLaren and in this case the maritime region of Langhorne Creek. Their wines are made to a high-standard across the range and are reliably delicious. This cabernet shows off a perfumed nose of flowers, juicy plums and dried herbs, followed by a medium-bodied, ripe and textured palate. There’s a gentle earthiness in the wine that is wrapped in blackberries and a lingering olive tapenade finish.

You'd pay $22 full price.

2x Eight at the Gate Lanacoona Cabernet Shiraz 2018

Red — Cabernet Blend

Wrattonbully — Australia

This beauty was born out of an indecision of sorts. Making the choice between two fantastic parcels of cabernet and shiraz turned out to be too hard in the end, and so this blend was born. Inky blackberries and mulberry come together in a spicy, voluptuous red that will have you crawling back for more. Warning, this is dangerously enjoyable wine.

You'd pay $24 full price.

2x Hesketh Regional Selections Grenache 2020

Red — Grenache

Barossa — Australia

We couldn't be more excited about the rise and rise of grenache in Australia. A bottle in every pantry, and on every table. This is plummy and ripe with blueberries and raspberries in the mix. The wine has enough acid to wrap that parcel of juicy fruit up and deliver it neatly through a lone, powerful finish.

You'd pay $25 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This collection features premium wines from acclaimed producers like Reschke and Gemtree, with ratings reaching 94 points from Wine Pilot and Wine Orbit. The 'dangerous' element comes from the exceptional quality-to-price ratio - you're getting museum releases, Five Red Star Halliday rated producers, and boutique wines that would typically cost significantly more individually. It's dangerous because once you taste these calibre wines at this price point, it's hard to go back to ordinary bottles.

The selection spans classic Australian red varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Grenache, plus interesting blends like Cabernet Shiraz. You'll experience everything from the structured elegance of Reschke's Reserve Cabernet to the bold intensity of St Johns Road's 'Blood & Courage' Shiraz. This diversity allows you to explore different wine styles while maintaining the full-bodied character that defines premium Australian reds.

Several wines in this collection are vegan-certified, making them suitable for plant-based diets without compromising on quality or flavour. Additionally, the Gemtree Bloodstone Shiraz comes from a certified biodynamic producer, representing the pinnacle of sustainable winemaking practices. Biodynamic wines often display enhanced terroir expression and complexity due to the holistic farming approach that treats the vineyard as a living ecosystem.

These wines showcase the rich, complex flavour spectrum of premium Australian reds - from dark fruit notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum to sophisticated secondary characters like cigarbox, leather and chocolate. The inclusion of floral violets and spice elements adds elegance to the robust meaty and redcurrant flavours. This flavour diversity reflects the different terroirs and winemaking styles, ensuring each bottle offers a unique tasting experience while maintaining that satisfying full-bodied weight.

The vintage spread from 2014 to 2022 provides an excellent opportunity to taste how different years express the same varietals and regions. The 2014 Reschke Reserve represents a mature, developed wine with integrated tannins and complex tertiary flavours, while the 2022 Thistledown 'Pugilist' offers vibrant primary fruit and structured tannins perfect for cellaring. This vintage diversity means you can enjoy some wines immediately while laying others down, creating a dynamic drinking experience that evolves over time.
