Why do we love this case?
This is Barossa done right. The Craneford Showcase brings together a tight lineup of small-batch wines that highlight the depth, power, and finesse of Marananga fruit.
From the rich, structured intensity of the No.1 Shiraz and the bold, traditional feel of the Basket Pressed Shiraz, to the vibrant, expressive Marananga Sands Grenache, every bottle speaks to place, precision, and hands-on winemaking.
With each wine featured twice, this case is built for sharing, comparing, or simply making sure you’ve got a second bottle ready when the first disappears. If you love Barossa reds with character and substance, this one’s got your name all over it. 🍷
2x Craneford No 1. Marananga Shiraz 2023
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
22 months in 20% new oak is the first thing you need to know about this beautiful beast. A rich, concentrated and complex whirl of dark chocolate, black fruits and cedar. The tannins are plush and juicy but silky on the finish. As we said above, this is truly a wine for those that yearn for the Barossa shiraz of old. Drink it with a knife and fork, pour it on your steak - all those clichés. It's unreal. We tried cellaring this one at home but quickly learnt something strange... this wine's like's a mozzie bite, the more you tell yourself not to touch it, not to think about it, the harder it gets because it's just heaven to scratch that itch. There's no way we'll be able to keep our hands off this for the next 10 - 15 years, but anyone that could would be in for a very special surprise.

Tasting Notes
2x Craneford Marananga Sands Grenache 2024
Red — Grenache
Barossa — Australia
This is Marananga grenache exactly how we like it, loud and proud. Old bush vines planted in sandy soils, and picked by hand when the fruit was absolutely peaking. No rushing, no overcooking - just pure, ripe, vibrant flavour straight out of one of Barossa’s best grenache pockets. The winemaking keeps it hands-on and honest. Small batches, open ferments, plenty of old-school plunging, then a gentle rest in seasoned French oak so the fruit stays front and centre. No over-oaked nonsense here - this is all about letting the site do the speaking. It’s silky, precise and beautifully balanced. Fine red fruits and pomegranate brightness glide through, with a savoury, mineral edge that screams Marananga. The tannins are smooth and shapely, carrying everything long and clean without weighing it down. Fresh, elegant, quietly powerful - this is grenache with charm, confidence and serious drink-me-now appeal.
