1x Pirramimma Heritage Limited Edition Chardonnay 2024

White — Chardonnay

McLaren Vale — Australia

We don’t need to tell you about Pirramimma, do we? By now if you’re a regular of Vinomofo, we’re betting that you’ve tried a drop or two from this legendary winery. To say their red wines have been fan favourites would be to severely understate the cult following of this brand. Yes mofo, their white wines are truly as iconic as their reds. This is as abundant as you might expect (or crave), abound with notes of toast, crème brûlée, hazelnut and ripe peaches. If chardonnay is a red wine lover’s white, then this has got to be the one.

You'd pay $50 full price.

1x Driftwood Estate Artifacts Chardonnay 2024

White — Chardonnay

Margaret River — Australia

Big, broad citrus flavours lead the fruit profile with some ripe red apple, nectarine, and tropical melon flavours following tightly behind. The oak profile is steeped in vanilla bean and sweet spice, and in classic Margs style its present but never over-bearing. A bit of wafty sea breeze (is that the Indian Ocean we’re picking up?) coupled with a steely minerality that chimes in on the finish. While this is a new wine to us, the producer is an absolute Mofo fave.

You'd pay $45 full price.

1x Moss Brothers Field of Dreams Chardonnay 2023

White — Chardonnay

Margaret River — Australia

This is a great example of letting the grape variety shine and it took some real care in the vineyard and the winery to accomplish. Picked in the cool of the early morning hours then racked to tank with some solids added for fermentation. The juice is separated with the majority placed in French oak to ferment and the rest kept to committed to tank. Post fermentation, bâtonnage is introduced to bring an extra textural element and build flavour. The result is a quintessential Margaret River chardonnay with richness, complexity and a lengthy, but not flabby, finish.

You'd pay $40 full price.

1x Rob Dolan Wines Chardonnay 2023

White — Chardonnay

Victoria — Australia

Whether we’ll admit it or not, we all play favourites, and this chardonnay comes from one of our favourite wineries in the biz, Rob Dolan. It’s bursting with personality (much like the Rob himself). There’s a nice line of lemony citrus, hints of cashew and a sneaky oak backbone holding it all together. Pour us another glass and let's get settled in.

You'd pay $35 full price.

1x Moppity Vineyards Atrius Chardonnay 2021

White — Chardonnay

Tumbarumba — Australia

Pale straw in colour, aromatics of fleshy stone fruits, apricot and citrus jump out of the glass. This leads into a complex palate of white peach and deep, nutty notes. Characteristic cool climate acidity provides drive, length and balance. Weekly batonage and 30% new french oak ensures huge cellaring potential; but with a handful of years already under its belt, development is well underway.

You'd pay $35 full price.

1x Higher Plane Chardonnay 2024

White — Chardonnay

Margaret River — Australia

They’ve got a rockstar of a winemaker and sit right in the heart of Margaret River. That’s a winning combination right there. Classic Margs chardy with lime, peach, bright acidity and some nuttiness. A little rich, quite mineral and immensely satisfying. What’s not to love?

You'd pay $32 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This curated selection brings together six distinct chardonnay expressions from acclaimed producers across different regions and vintages, offering a comprehensive tasting journey through Australia's diverse chardonnay landscape. Rather than committing to a single style, you'll experience everything from crisp, mineral-driven examples to rich, oak-influenced wines. The collection includes wines from Five Star Halliday rated wineries and 94-point rated bottles, ensuring quality across every style. It's like having a masterclass in Australian chardonnay delivered to your door.

The vintage variation from 2021 to 2024 creates fascinating contrasts in this collection, as chardonnay evolves beautifully with time. The 2021 Moppity Atrius will show more developed, honeyed characteristics with integrated oak, while the 2024 releases like Pirramimma Heritage and Higher Plane offer bright, primary fruit flavours and crisp acidity. This vintage spread demonstrates how the same grape variety can express completely different personalities depending on when it was harvested and how long it's been cellared.

The flavour spectrum from citrus and green apple through to nutty vanilla and tropical fruit makes this selection incredibly food-friendly across multiple courses. Lighter styles pair beautifully with fresh seafood, goat's cheese salads, and Asian cuisine, while the richer, oak-influenced bottles complement roasted chicken, creamy pasta dishes, and aged hard cheeses. The spice and cashew notes in some wines make them excellent matches for dishes with subtle heat or nut-based sauces.

Most chardonnays in this selection are designed for immediate enjoyment to capture their vibrant fruit character, though quality Australian chardonnay can develop beautifully over 3-5 years. The 2021 vintage is already showing lovely development, while the 2024 releases are at their youthful peak with bright acidity that will help them age gracefully. Store them in a cool, dark place if you want to experience how each wine evolves, as chardonnay develops fascinating honeyed and nutty complexity with time.

Australian chardonnay varies dramatically by region, and this selection showcases that diversity through different climate influences and winemaking philosophies. You'll taste how cooler climate regions produce wines with higher acidity and citrus precision, while warmer areas contribute the tropical fruit and melon characteristics. The various palate weights mean some wines will be lean and mineral-driven, perfect for seafood, while others offer the rich, textural mouthfeel that made Australian chardonnay famous worldwide.
