2x School House Chardonnay 2024
White — Chardonnay
Padthaway — Australia
Remember when Australian chardonnay was rich, buttery and completely unapologetic about it? Well this producer certainly hasn't forgotten, and this wine is a statement to that effect. Fantasticly rich, bold and buttery. How it used to be. How it should be. Full, generous and gloriously old-school - stone fruit, caramel, vanilla oak and a buttery creaminess that coats the palate in all the right ways. There's a citrus lift and fine acidity keeping it honest, but make no mistake: this wine is here to deliver pleasure, not make a statement about terroir or restraint. Sometimes that's exactly what you need in a glass. And this delivers it beautifully.

2x Spring Vale Melrose Chardonnay 2025
White — Chardonnay
Tasmania — Australia
Tasmania does chardonnay like nowhere else. This barnstorming release is all about cool-climate finesse — the island’s crisp air, long ripening, and mineral-rich soils give the wine that signature lift and vibrancy. It’s elegant, focused, and effortlessly drinkable — a perfect showcase of why Tasmania keeps punching above its weight for chardonnay. This one pours a pale straw and immediately leans into that cool-climate energy - white peach, nectarine and citrus blossom up front, with a little melon and a gentle spice note floating behind. There’s a faint whiff of crème fraîche and crushed stone that gives it that unmistakable Tassie edge. On the palate it’s all about purity and pace. Stone fruit and bright citrus glide through the middle, carried by zesty acidity that keeps everything tight and refreshing. It’s crisp without being sharp, textured without getting heavy. A short stint on lees and a mix of stainless and seasoned French oak bring just enough creaminess to round it out, but the fruit is very much in charge.

2x Handpicked Regional Selections Chardonnay 2019
White — Chardonnay
Yarra Valley — Australia
The Yarra Valley does a lot of things well. Chardonnay might just be the best of them. This one delivers absolutely classic Yarra vibes. Stone fruit, citrus, a mineral edge and a creamy, textured mid-palate built from careful French oak maturation and partial wild fermentation. It's the kind of wine that works just as hard at a dinner table as it does on its own on a Friday afternoon. Vibrant, elegant and completely delicious. This one pulls fruit from two distinct parts of the valley - the warmer valley floor for richness and spice, and a high-altitude site in the Upper Yarra for citrus snap and nervous acidity. The result is a chardonnay with real depth and complexity, where neither end of the spectrum dominates and everything sits in genuinely satisfying balance. Yarra Chardonnay at a price that makes grabbing a few an easy decision.

2x Angove Family Winemakers Classic Chardonnay 2024
White — Chardonnay
South Australia — Australia
On the nose you’ll find ripe peach, nectarine and a bit of grilled pineapple, with vanilla and a gentle toastiness drifting in behind. It smells generous because it is. The palate leans into that generosity - white stone fruit and those tropical notes backed up by a creamy, cashew-like richness. A touch of French oak adds spice and texture, but it’s nicely judged, keeping things plush without turning too heavy or oily. There’s enough freshness running through it to stop it feeling over the top, and the finish lingers with a soft, buttery feeling staynig with you. This is crowd-pleasing chardonnay done right. Roast chicken, creamy pasta, pumpkin risotto - it’ll handle the lot. Drink it now while it’s super juicy and expressive, or give it a couple of years to become a more savoury, richer profile.
You’d pay $26 full price.

2x Credaro Five Tales Chardonnay 2025
White — Chardonnay
Margaret River — Australia
Five generations of expert winemaking have led up to this moment - and honestly, it shows. This chardonnay is the liquid equivalent of a high-five that just hits PERFECT. This isn’t your nana’s 1970's chardy. It’s modern, mineral, and utterly drinkable, yet rich. A reminder that five generations of experience can still make a wine that feels fresh, fun, and ready for anything. Grab a bottle, get in the fridge, and toast to 150 years of know how! The nose is initially bright, bold, and fruit-forward in all the right ways. It's all about juicy white stone fruit and melon doing hitting that balance with roasted cashew, nougat, and a sprinkle of sweet spice from some seriously thoughtful oak work. It’s elegant, but not shy. Then there’s the palate - fresh as a sea breeze and just as invigorating. That grapefruit zing keeps things zippy, while a delicate, talcy texture and a good lick of oak adds a little luxury to every sip. Stone fruit glides through the mid-palate with just the right amount of generosity and depth. It’s all beautifully balanced - rich enough to impress, bright enough to keep you coming back for “just one more taste.”
You’d pay $31 full price.

2x Pyren Vineyards Tanwood Chardonnay 2025
White — Chardonnay
Pyrenees — Australia
Chardonnay at this price point rarely, if ever, hits this level of palate weight and fruit richness. This is a mid-week wine that doesn't muck about. Creamy pasta, a bottle of this, the couch - what a night. Delightful and approachable. Green apple, citrus, pear, a touch of soft vanilla. On the palate, it's crisp and clean but ripe and weighty, papaya and grapefruit offer ripe tropical flavours and aromatics. The acid is lively and vibrant through the finish. This is a perfect wine to have on hand all summer long, fresh, exciting, energetic, and fruit driven - it'll go with anything and it'll please anyone.
