2x Metricup Hills Estate Chardonnay 2025
White — Chardonnay
Margaret River — Barossa
This Metricup Hills Estate Chardonnay 2025 is pure Margaret River class with a relaxed, modern edge. It’s soft and generous through the palate, layering fleshy stone fruit and citrus freshness, then finishing with a subtle, well-judged oak glow that adds length without stealing the show. The fruit comes from Margaret River family vineyards in the Metricup zone, a pocket known for chardonnay with natural richness and coastal polish. Vintage 2025 in Margaret River delivered beautifully balanced ripeness and acidity, which is exactly why this feels both vibrant and smooth at the same time. If you like chardonnay that’s generous, clean and quietly premium, this will be right in your wheelhouse.

2x Alkoomi Wines Family Collection Chardonnay 2024
White — Chardonnay
Frankland River — Barossa
With phenomenal fruit intensity, distinctly nutty notes and a gorgeous creamy texture, you'd be completely stoked to pick this one up at the bottle shop for full whack. To get your hands on this beauty for this price is a complete game-changer. Everyone needs a wine or two like this in the rack, you know, just in case. Pink grapefruit, struck match and spicy oak are immediately noticeable on the nose, you'd be forgiven for thinking you were looking at a Yarra Valley chardy. As the palate opens up, however, the wine becomes more regionally expressive; melon, ripe stone fruit and slatey minerality begin to become more overt. It's both bright and highly textured at the same time with an astounding finish of savoury spices, roasted nuts and lingering natural acid. A seriously well-made wine that holds its own against the best the WA has to offer. Is Frankland River the most underrated wine region in Australia? This wine has us thinking just that.

2x Mont St Lunara Chardonnay 2024
White — Chardonnay
Alpine & King Valleys — Barossa
Ripe stone fruit meets bright natural acidity (and a bit of clever work in the winery) to create a balanced, purposeful wine that overdelivers at every possible turn. It's not the dark yellow, flabby chardonnays of your parents' era - this is modern Australian chardonnay, right where you want it. Because of the altitude and natural cool-climate of the King/Alpine Valleys, you don't have to worry about these wines being lively - that natural acidy is built into the very core of the fruit from which this wine is made. There's not a lot we can say about this wine that isn't evident from the colour of the thing. Bright, fruit forward, zippy and rich in all the right places. Versatile, vivacious and very, very, very east to drink.

2x Credaro Five Tales Chardonnay 2024
White — Chardonnay
Margaret River — Barossa
The nose is initially bright, bold, and fruit-forward in all the right ways. It's all about juicy white stone fruit and melon doing hitting that balance with roasted cashew, nougat, and a sprinkle of sweet spice from some seriously thoughtful oak work. It’s elegant, but not shy. Then there’s the palate - fresh as a sea breeze and just as invigorating. That grapefruit zing keeps things zippy, while a delicate, talcy texture and a good lick of oak adds a little luxury to every sip. Stone fruit glides through the mid-palate with just the right amount of generosity and depth. It’s all beautifully balanced - rich enough to impress, bright enough to keep you coming back for “just one more taste.”

2x Pyren Vineyards Tanwood Chardonnay 2025
White — Chardonnay
Pyrenees — Barossa
Chardonnay at this price point rarely, if ever, hits this level of palate weight and fruit richness. This is a mid-week wine that doesn't muck about. Creamy pasta, a bottle of this, the couch - what a night. Delightful and approachable. Green apple, citrus, pear, a touch of soft vanilla. On the palate, it's crisp and clean but ripe and weighty, papaya and grapefruit offer ripe tropical flavours and aromatics. The acid is lively and vibrant through the finish. This is a perfect wine to have on hand all summer long, fresh, exciting, energetic, and fruit driven - it'll go with anything and it'll please anyone.
