2x Atlas Wines Block 9 Chardonnay 2024

White — Chardonnay

Adelaide Hills — Australia

A genuine Mofo favourite, this wine (and this producer) have become a beacon of consistency in a very unpredictable industry. Established in 2007, think of this winery as the cool, new kids on the block. What they don't have in age, they make up for in skill.
Welcome to one of our all-time favourite chardies. Crafted in small batches as they use only the most premium quality grapes, fruit for this particular chardonnay is sourced from the fantastic Woodside vineyard in Adelaide Hills. Balanced, bright and creamy, this lovely drop is a tropical bowl packed to the rim with melon, mango, peach and grapefruit. There’s a pillowy softness to the palate and a lively acid line that drives its long finish.

You'd pay $38 full price.

2x Twin Valleys Reserve Chardonnay 2023

White — Chardonnay

King Valley — Australia

Hail to the King! The king of white wine grapes, that is. True to it's Alpine home, this greets you with a swirl of citrus and stone fruit. There's a creamy element, too - something like peach cobbler or apricot yoghurt. Deftly striking a balance between richness and freshness, between full-fruited palate weight and fresh, energetic acidity. A delightful wine to say the least - this is versatile and friendly High Country chardy at it's best. Drink or hold.

You'd pay $35 full price.

2x Hesketh Small Batch Lobethal Chardonnay 2022

White — Chardonnay

Adelaide Hills — Australia

Stylish stuff. The Adelaide Hills region is known for producing delicate styles of chardonnay that manage to be both textured and lean. A slight minerality and pronounced natural acid line bring a refreshing, lighter feel to an otherwise dense and complex wine. It's about balance, intensity, freshness and expression of site. Try this one with creamy pastas - trust us!

You'd pay $32 full price.

2x Fetherston Iris Chardonnay 2022

White — Chardonnay

Yarra Valley — Australia

This is a smart little wine, a smart buy too. Very much following the flavour profile of regionally expressive Yarra Valley chardonnay, this wine is tightly wound yet somehow extremely generous. Toasted brioche, roasted nuts and white stone fruits on the nose, the palate opens up with concentrated grapefruit and citrus and wonderfully textured notes of fresh cream. A super well-done wine that punches well above its weight.

You'd pay $32 full price.

2x Pyren Vineyards Tanwood Chardonnay 2023

White — Chardonnay

Pyrenees — Australia

Delightful and approachable. Green apple, citrus, pear, a touch of soft vanilla. On the palate, it's crisp and clean but ripe and weighty, papaya and grapefruit offer ripe tropical flavours and aromatics. The acid is lively and vibrant through the finish. This is a perfect wine to have on hand all summer long, fresh, exciting, energetic, and fruit driven - it'll go with anything and it'll please anyone.

You'd pay $25 full price.

2x Cloudbreak Nouveau Chardonnay 2023

White — Chardonnay

Adelaide Hills — Australia

A refreshing, zippy and elegant chardy with a creamy, malolactic aspect and pristine fruit. After a long day out and about in the sun, we can't think of anything better than pulling this belter out of the esky and sharing a bottle or two with the campsite. That's just us though, this wine also works if you're not camping.
A reviewer, who can't be named (Black Market - you know the drill), described this wine as, "impressive and enjoyable", and that's pretty much the whole point of this wine. Yep, it's made well; vibrant, juicy acid, pristine lemon and white peach and a slight creaminess from partial malolactic fermentation. But this cheeky little number is also a whole bunch of fun; zippy, zesty, refreshing and bright. This really is a great addition to the cellar, for when you feel like a chardonnay but it's a bit hot out for melted butter in a glass. This'll keep for another four or five years but as the winemakers say, "Made to be enjoyed!".

You'd pay $25 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This curated lineup showcases chardonnay's incredible versatility across different Australian regions and winemaking styles, from crisp mineral expressions to rich buttery examples. With ratings up to 95 points and featuring both established and boutique producers, you'll experience how terroir, vintage variation, and winemaking techniques create dramatically different expressions of the same grape. It's like taking a masterclass in Australian chardonnay without leaving your dining room.

Australian chardonnay varies dramatically by region - cooler climate areas produce wines with bright citrus and mineral notes, while warmer regions develop richer stone fruit flavours and more generous textures. The diverse regional representation in this collection means you'll taste everything from lean, food-friendly styles to opulent, oak-influenced expressions. This regional diversity is what makes Australian chardonnay so exciting and food-versatile.

The beauty of this mixed collection is its incredible food flexibility - the citrusy, mineral styles pair brilliantly with seafood and fresh salads, while the creamier, vanilla-noted bottles complement roasted chicken and creamy pasta dishes. The nectarine and peach flavours make some bottles perfect with Asian cuisine, particularly dishes with subtle spice. Having this variety means you can match the perfect chardonnay to whatever you're cooking.

Most of these chardonnays are crafted for immediate enjoyment, showcasing their fresh fruit character and balanced acidity at their peak. However, the higher-rated bottles and those from premium single vineyards will develop additional complexity over 2-3 years, with the oak integration becoming more seamless and secondary honeyed notes emerging. The 2022-2024 vintages represent excellent drinking windows, though personal preference for fresher versus more developed styles should guide your timing.

The 95-point Wine Orbit rating and multiple 94-point scores indicate exceptional quality that rivals premium international chardonnays at a fraction of the cost. Gold medals and five-star ratings from respected Australian wine publications validate the winemaking excellence, while designations like 'Single Vineyard' and 'Boutique Producer' suggest limited production and hands-on craftsmanship. These accolades essentially guarantee you're getting restaurant-quality wines that punch well above their weight class.
