Why do we love this case?
Here, we bring you the best of the best. These are the wines that our producers have loved so dearly that they've kept a few behind at the cellar for their future selves (and, some lucky customers who might get the winemakers on a good day). We've had to do some really sweet talking, a little bit of begging, and a lot of string-pulling to curate this case. Presenting: the Aged. Shiraz. Selection. It feels good to say it, and even better to drink it.
1x Mitolo Cantiniere Shiraz 2018
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
This 2018 shiraz starts with blueberries and plums on the nose, followed by a pretty perfume. The palate is all McLaren with dense red and black fruit, richness and abundant tannin. It’s as intense, as complex, as high quality, as powerful as you are going to find, with all of that fruit supported by roasted nuts and spices, and super dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is indeed bold, but not overwhelming, as tannin dances with fruit, acidity, earthy notes and a long and moreish finish.
You’d pay $70 full price.

1x Farmer's Leap Fortune Shiraz 2016
Red — Shiraz
Padthaway — Australia
This is top of the range for Farmer's Leap, a family run winery in Padthaway. For the Fortune shiraz, they go above and beyond the call of duty. Dense, dark fruit in a bigger-than-big, bolder-than bold package - the wine and the luxuriously heavy bottle. A super complex drop of shiraz. Chocolate, mocha and earthy notes play on the nose, whereas the palate is an interplay of tannin, baking spice, and all the red berries and fruits you can imagine, resting in a bed of velvety texture. This has all you could want in a super-premium shiraz, and has proven time and time again as a mofo favourite. In fact, this wine has walked out the door every single time we've brought it back, so we're confident it's a crowd pleaser.

1x Devitt & Moore Captain D. Bruce Shiraz 2017
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Deep, dark ripe fruit dazzles to begin, but then the nuance of age makes itself known, adding another element to this fantastic wine. A swarm of brambly, developed fruit is framed by punchy tannin and well integrated acidity. Seven years cellar time has allowed some fruit leather and umami to enter the flavour profile, but they're only there as a suggestion of what this wine might do over the next decade - right now its all about the fruit - luscious and complex and packing a genuine, no-holds-barred bit of punch. Chocolate, tobacco, pepper, spice – everything nice. Personally I'm torn: I would love to see what this wine looks like in the back half of the 2030s, but I know I'll drink my modest allocation by the end of the month.
You’d pay $128 full price.

1x Lights Valley Colonel Shiraz 2017
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Are we in any doubt anymore that Barossa is the true home of shiraz? Seriously, search the world over and you'll be hard pressed to find juice quite as impressive, quite as complex, and with quite as much history. Each wine that comes out of this prized region is worth holding tightly on to, but this. This right here. This is the stuff mofo. Our producers have been guarding this in their cellar, but they figured it was finally time to send it off to loving homes (ahem, that's us!). Genuinely deep and robust, this wine seems to have a never-ending palate of intrigue. Blackberry and liquorice dance with vanilla and a pantry full of baking spices. Do us a favour and savour every drop, it's worthy of the attention.
You’d pay $130 full price.

1x Thorn-Clarke Bona Fide Shiraz 2018
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
Thorne-Clarke: a meeting of two families that settled on Barossa soils over a century ago. Like many, it’s a story of hard work, nose to the ground, generation after generation. Fast forward to the 21st century, and it’s all about their classy wines that stand out from the pack. True to their terroir-driven ethos, the Bona Fide shiraz is all about small scale and a watchful eye. Single vineyard, small batch fermentation, followed by American oak treatment for 18months (40% new). Only the best of the best made it to the final blend, meaning that you, yes YOU Mofo, are only getting the very best.
You’d pay $70 full price.

1x Serafino Wines Malpas Road Shiraz 2018
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
This is full on shiraz, and it offers so much more than it promises. Dive straight in and expect rum & raisin characters, freshly ground coffee beans and roasted coconut. That's not all, the finish will linger with dark chocolate density. It's big, it's heavy, and its ready to be enjoyed any day of the week.
You’d pay $45 full price.
