Why do we love this case?
Here, we bring you the best of the best. These are the wines that our producers have loved so dearly that they've kept a few behind at the cellar for their future selves (and, some lucky customers who might get the winemakers on a good day). We've had to do some really sweet talking, a little bit of begging, and a lot of string-pulling to curate this case. Presenting: the inaugural Aged. Shiraz. Selection. It feels good to say it, and even better to drink it.
1x d'Arenberg The Singing Malaysian Shiraz 2011
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
McLaren Vale produces some of Australia's best shiraz, and there are a few players who take the title of 'best of the best'. This shiraz comes from one of these incredible producers, and the juice is absolutely stunning.
'McLaren Vale shiraz': three words that get us jazzed without fail, especially when the shiraz is this good. From one of the industry's most well-known and instantly recognisable producers, this beautiful drop is equally at home now with a hearty meal, or in the cellar for the next 10 years. Ripe dark fruits, vanilla and cocoa, a touch of mint and silky-but-robust tannins holding the whole thing together. This is Vale shiraz at its peak.

1x Cape Barren 'Coach Block' Shiraz 2019
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
We spend a lot of time in McLaren Vale. Why you ask? Our mofos just can't get enough of the shiraz that grows there. So it's a never ending (albeit enjoyable) task to keep the hits coming. Maybe 'what have you done for me lately' is a bit too much, but we know that thirst is unquenchable. Here's another one to scratch that itch, a single vineyard drop from 35-year old vines that sings of black cherry, cocoa powder and oak. We know you're into it.
You’d pay $90 full price.

1x Glen Eldon Eight Barrels Shiraz 2020
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
This producer has a well-earned reputation for big reds, and this fits the bill for sure. Right out of the box this is an imposing, commanding wine that insist on a sense of occasion, then rises to it.
Richly fruited. Lashings of ripe black and blue fruits folded over vanilla, cake spice, cedar and mocha. The oak is present - persistent even - but it plays a marked second chair to the fruit, as it should me. Weighty, opulent, powerful shiraz. There is a lighter touch, too; dried petals and spices are beset against the dense fruit core giving the wine another dimension. Velvety tannins carry the wine through a lasting finish. This is seriously good gear - a fine example of what premium Barossa shiraz should look like.
You’d pay $90 full price.

1x Di Fabio Bushvine Reserve Shiraz 2016
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Wow, what a wine. A must have for any McLaren Vale die-hards or pretty much anyone with a mouth and a heart. Rich dark fruit, chocolatey oak and fine-grained tannins. A classic Aussie style with 8 years under the belt, primed and raring to go.
Di Fabio Estate are a real wine-producer's producer. With a history in Australia dating back to the mid 60's, and much much longer in Italy, the Di Fabio family earned their stripes selling grapes to some of McLaren Vale's biggest names. As the years went by and whispers of their fruit's fantastic quality grew louder, they transitioned into full wine production and when we taste this gorgeous drop, we're so happy that they did. With premium fruit from old bushvines in the Blewitt Springs sub-region, and a little bit of generational know-how, Di Fabio has crafted the ultimate people-pleaser. A dense, dark fruited wine that, although full-bodied, doesn't feel sluggish or clunky on the palate. Lively and rich blackberries and dark cherries are balanced by milk chocolate and sweet spice, a result of a very comprehensive oak treatment regime. This is a wine that was drinking beautifully five years ago, drinks beautifully today and will still be drinking beautifully in five years time. If you're a McLaren Vale fan, do yourself a favour.
You’d pay $80 full price.

1x Dog Ridge Original Plantings Shiraz 2016
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Aged McLaren Vale shiraz from vines planted way back in the 1940s. This is truly one for those who love matured Aussie reds. Developed, soft, plush and utterly delicious.
McLaren Vale people take their old vines very seriously, and with good reason, the concentration and regionality of the fruit off of these vineyards goes unrivalled in McV and, in short, allows the winemaker to create whatever style of wine they want. Turns out the winemaker in question here decided to make an absolute belter! Notes of leather, tobacco and spice are really starting to poke through a base of plush plummy fruit and dark chocolate. Fine, chalky tannins build on natural acid to create an extremely long finish and hold this bad boy in good stead for the future, if that's your thing.
You’d pay $85 full price.

1x Geoff Merrill Mount Hurtle Shiraz 2017
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
There's a bit of a story to this one. Before Geoff Merrill purchased his winery, it was simply known as 'Mount Hurtle' , this is how he explains the decision, "When I purchased the Mount Hurtle winery in 1985 it was to preserve a small piece of Australia’s winemaking history", that brings us to this wine. This wine is that throwback, this wine is that small piece of winemaking history. Exceedingly smooth, age has softened and rounded this beauty whilst maintaining a wonderful acid line and grippy tannins - it's classic Geoff Merrill, classic McLaren Vale, it's just a classic Australian shiraz.
You’d pay $55 full price.
