Why do we love this case?
Here, we bring you the best of the best. These are the wines that our producers have loved so dearly that they've kept a few behind at the cellar for their future selves (and, some lucky customers who might get the winemakers on a good day). We've had to do some really sweet talking, a little bit of begging, and a lot of string-pulling to curate this case. Presenting: the inaugural Aged. Shiraz. Selection. It feels good to say it, and even better to drink it.
1x d'Arenberg The Vociferate Dipsomaniac Shiraz 2010
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Premium fruit, strong vintage, iconic producer, top tier winemaking. These are all markers of age-worthiness, and the time has come to show the fruits of hard labour. If you're a fan of a cellar release, you can bet d'Arenberg are the ones to turn to. The Vociferate Dipsomaniac shiraz (say that ten times fast) is gracefully poised and perfectly elegant. The palate still has freshness - sweet plum and bramble into over ripe black cherry - but the layers of spice, leather, and earth are doing a lot of heavy lifting (in a really good way). A masterful wine from a masterful winemaking team.

Tasting Notes
1x First Drop Cold Sweat 'Wilton' Syrah 2012
Red — Shiraz
Eden Valley — Australia
Sometimes wines come along that you could really just get out your knife and fork and dive into. This single vineyard wine from John Retsas at First Drop does just that: not for its weight or density, but for it’s satisfying-to-drink quality that makes you want to chew on it a little longer. The swirls of cherry ripe amongst the salty, vegemite-y backbone are something too beautiful to describe. Layer that up with a good dose of leather and tobacco from nearly a decade in bottle and we’re on track to doing this wine justice. This is perhaps too good to describe, you’ll just have to try it.
You’d pay $100 full price.

1x Lights Valley Colonel Shiraz 2016
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
Wowee. If there was ever a wine that almost overflows with grandeur, this is well and truly it. Aged Barossa shiraz: big, heavy, and bold. Something you can say about the wine and the package it comes in. This right here. This is the stuff mofo. This has been carefully guarded in the Lights Valley cellar until now, but they figured it was finally time to send it off to loving homes (ahem, that's us!). Genuinely deep and robust, the Colonel shiraz seems to have a never-ending palate of intrigue. Blackberry and liquorice dance with vanilla and a pantry full of baking spices. Do us a favour and savour every drop, it's worthy of the attention.
You’d pay $120 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Devitt & Moore 'Captain D Bruce' Shiraz 2016
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
Deep, dark ripe fruit dazzles to begin, but then the nuance of age makes itself known, adding another element to this fantastic wine. A swarm of brambly, developed fruit is framed by punchy tannin and well integrated acidity. Seven years cellar time has allowed some fruit leather and umami to enter the flavour profile, but they're only there as a suggestion of what this wine might do over the next decade - right now its all about the fruit - luscious and complex and packing a genuine, no-holds-barred bit of punch. Chocolate, tobacco, pepper, spice – everything nice. Personally I'm torn: I would love to see what this wine looks like in the back half of the 2030s, but I know it won't stick around that long.
You’d pay $128 full price.

1x Alkoomi Wines Jarrah Shiraz 2016
Red — Shiraz
Frankland River — Australia
Fruit forward, jammy spice, and still fresh as a daisy. This is hand selected premium fruit from old shiraz vines. Hand harvested, fermented and matured in partial new oak (around one third); everything here points to quality. Deep, black fruit sit atop vanilla and sweet pastry essence making for a wholly joyous and powerful drinking experience. Remarkable fresh, too, given its not insignificant stint in the cellar - with more years to go yet, should you choose to wait and see how this wine matures. For me, though, this is picture perfect as is, and it won't last long in my house.
You’d pay $50 full price.

1x Sieger Estate Frederick BLK 777 Shiraz 2017
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
From the fertile plains of Barossa’s rich valley floor comes a grape of great fame. It’s illustrious deep colour could mesmerise any punter, and it’s aromas are sure to enchant even those who try to abstain it. It’s the star of the show: shiraz. Taking no prisoners on its mission to be the biggest and the best - there’s chocolate interlaced with stewed plums and a hint of dried figs. A dance of redcurrant across the mid palate dares to drive freshness home for the long, slow burning finish. Both the beauty and the beast in the glass, you’ll be enchanted all the way through.
You’d pay $50 full price.
