2x Penley Estate Black Bull Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Guess who’s back and ready to go? One of our favourite Coonawarra producers, Penley Estate, has done the hard work to bring back this Mofo favourite. Aptly named, this robust cabernet packs a punch with strong, flavourful and classic Coonawarra characteristics we’ve all come to love and enjoy. Dark fruits of the black forest abound and surround the recogniseable cedary, minty core; while framed with superb mineral tannins that allow for youthful drinking while still earning a nook in your cellar over the next 10+ years.

You'd pay $50 full price.

2x Hollick Red Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

This is jam packed full of black and red fruit - currants and raspberries mix with bramble and plums. The earthy and greener notes chime in late, backing up that initial fruit with some savoury depth. Classic Coonawarra - completely delicious. Estate fruit from the famed Hollick vineyards in Coonawarra, this is cab sauv like Aussies know and love. Certainly, a little bit of age behind this number has helped to fill out the mid palate, making it rich and dense with threads of fennel and mint throughout. It's very hard not to enjoy this wine - and we're speaking from experience.

2x Redman First Divide Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

You're going to know this producer, they're one of the greats... These grapes, grown in the world-renowned terra rossa soils of Coonawarra, have all the classic flavours you’d expect, and then some! Cassis and eucalypt define the palate, with the potential for a great many years ageing - if you can be bothered! We're loving ours just how it is right now.
These guys were established in 1908 - a pioneering winery of Coonawarra. Still family owned, they pride themselves on the amazing wines they’re making today with the benefit of four generations of know-how. This 2022 release lands with intent - all blackcurrant depth, graphite edge and a cool flicker of that minty, eucalypt that helps define the region. There’s structure here, but also grace: tight, fine tannins wrapping around a juicy, perfectly ripened core. French oak plays its part quietly, adding texture and shape without stealing the spotlight. When should you drink this wine? Every, damn, day!

You'd pay $30 full price.

2x Lambert Estate Thoroughbred Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Barossa — Australia

This thing pours black as midnight. Proper inky stuff, the kind of colour that tells you straight away you’re in for a big, indulgent ride. It’s powerful, it’s generous, it’s got that “treat yourself” energy, but it’s still balanced enough not to feel overdone. Cabernet for cabernet lovers. A big, bold beauty that absolutely delivers what the viscous, inky look promises. Stick your nose in and it’s all cassis, liquorice and a cool hit of mint, backed by spicy cedar that lets you know there’s some serious oak work going on. The palate is lush, plush and downright hedonistic. Blackcurrant drenched in dark chocolate, a bit of mint and a shake of earthy spice - all rolled into one long, velvety mouthful. The tannins are smooth as anything, bringing all that richness to a finish that just keeps humming along for what feels like hours.

You'd pay $52 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This curated selection showcases the remarkable diversity of Cabernet Sauvignon across different regions and vintages, from elegant textured styles to powerhouse expressions. Each wine offers a unique journey of discovery, allowing you to explore how terroir, winemaking techniques, and vintage variations influence this noble grape. It's like having a masterclass in Cabernet diversity delivered to your door, perfect for understanding why it's called the 'King of Grapes'.

The collection spans the full spectrum of Cabernet's flavour potential, from bright redcurrant and black cherry notes to deeper chocolate and cedar characteristics. You'll experience everything from herbaceous eucalyptus and menthol complexity to rich cocoa and spice-driven expressions. This range demonstrates how Cabernet can adapt to different climates and winemaking styles while maintaining its distinctive backbone of structure and power.

With vintages spanning 2017 to 2023, this collection offers both immediate drinking pleasure and cellaring potential. The older vintages like the 2017 Lambert Estate are likely showing beautiful development now, while the 2022-2023 wines have the structure to evolve gracefully over the next 5-10 years. Cabernet's natural tannin structure and acidity make it one of the world's most age-worthy varieties, so you can enjoy some now and cellar others for future occasions.

The varied palate weights in this collection make it incredibly versatile for food matching. Lighter, more elegant styles pair beautifully with herb-crusted lamb or mushroom dishes, while the more powerful expressions can stand up to rich beef steaks, aged cheeses, or game meats. The chocolate and spice notes in some wines also make them excellent companions for dark chocolate desserts or charcuterie boards featuring cured meats and olives.

This collection features boutique and five-star Halliday-rated wineries, representing some of Australia's most respected Cabernet producers. These smaller-scale operations often focus on sustainable farming practices and small-batch production, allowing for greater attention to detail and expression of terroir. The mix includes both established names and emerging talents, giving you insight into the current state and future direction of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon craftsmanship.
