2x Cabernet Blend 2018

Red — Cabernet Blend

McLaren Vale — Australia

Plush, rich blackberries and plums with a raspberry like acidity and wonderfully soft tannins. There's a good lick of oak but nothing distracting, a hint of eucalypt but it stops short of menthol. This wine's time in the cellar has done it absolute wonders - soft, smooth, silky, yet powerful, plush and ripe. A great wine from one of McLaren Vale's greatest producers.

You'd pay $50 full price.

2x Shiraz 2019

Red — Shiraz

Barossa. — Australia

Dark, deep ruby red in the glass - this wine announces its serious intentions before you even lift it to your nose. And what a nose it is: dense, dark fruits cascade through dense plum and forest berries, lifted by distinctive black pepper and anise spice that adds complexity without overwhelming the pure fruit expression. The palate delivers everything the aromatics promise and more. Excellent fruit concentration meets perfect balance and genuine elegance - that rare combination that separates good wines from genuinely memorable ones. Juicy fresh acidity cuts through beautifully, while the gentle tannin profile ensures this drinks beautifully now while promising years of evolution ahead - because great winemaking never goes out of style.

You'd pay $45 full price.

2x Shiraz 2022

Red — Shiraz

Frankland River — Australia

This wine is, without doubt, one of the most popular we’ve ever seen at Vinomofo. How popular is popular, you ask? Well, thirsty mofos took over 30,000 bottles of a previous vintage straight out of our hands. Yup. We know it’s a great wine deal but when our mofo members are this unanimous in their desire for this drop; well it’s simply cause for one big shiraz gluggin’ celebration.

Full bodied and silky smooth with lashings of plums and earthy spice; if you’re quaffing this Frankland River gem on a week night, know you’re in good company alongside many a mofo. With one fist in the air (and the other holding a glass of this wine) we salute you!

You'd pay $33 full price.

2x Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

King Valley — Australia

Here we go again with another delicious drop from one of the most consistently consistent producers we work with. Everything in balance and such a nice drink. Fruit in the blackberry and plum spectrum, underlying spice and earthiness, a bit of drying tannin. One of those ‘don’t overthink it’ kinda wines, straight up tasty, enjoyable and ready to roll. Good thing you’ll have another bottle of the same ready to go as you’ll want to come back for more.

You'd pay $31 full price.

2x Grenache 2022

Red — Grenache

Barossa — Australia

A bold and charismatic red that doesn’t tiptoe onto the palate - it kicks down the door and dives head first. This Barossa grenache is all action: juicy strawberries, ripe cherries and a rush of spicy raspberry that hits with astonishing power. Sourced from Ebenezer in the northern Barossa, where old vines grow in deep red clay at 300m elevation, this is pure, high-country Grenache with guts. The mouthfeel is plush and dramatic, with a savoury thread tying it all together. This is a wine you grab by the horns, and just try to hang on!

You'd pay $30 full price.

2x Shiraz 2023

Red — Shiraz

Langhorne Creek — Australia

A very smart little wine that is at once knock-about and complex. A medley of cherries and blackcurrants accompanied by hints of freshly ground coffee, dark chocolate, peppermint, liquorice, and subtle pepper aromas. It boasts a dense, velvety texture, offering a well-balanced fruit profile.

You'd pay $22 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This 'black market' approach allows the retailer to offer premium wines at exceptional prices without undermining the wineries' established market positioning. By keeping producer names confidential, these boutique wineries can move excess inventory or museum releases without affecting their regular pricing structure. It's a win-win situation where wine lovers access high-quality drops at reduced prices while producers maintain their brand integrity in the broader market.

The collection features wines from Five Red Star Halliday rated wineries with professional scores up to 93 points from respected critics like Wine Orbit and Vintage Journal. These ratings indicate exceptional quality that would typically command premium prices in the open market. The inclusion of museum releases and killer vintages suggests these are mature, well-developed wines that have been carefully cellared and are now drinking at their peak.

The selection spans classic Australian red varietals from Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz to the more delicate Grenache, covering vintages from 2018 to 2023. This range provides an excellent opportunity to explore how different grape varieties express themselves across various growing seasons and winemaking styles. The diverse flavour profiles from earthy, spiced Shiraz to fruit-forward Grenache create a comprehensive tasting journey through premium Australian red wine styles.

With flavours ranging from blackcurrant and cedar in the Cabernet styles to raspberry and strawberry notes in the Grenache, this collection covers the full spectrum of red wine food pairing possibilities. The robust Shiraz wines with their spice and liquorice characteristics pair beautifully with grilled meats and hearty stews, while the lighter Grenache complements Mediterranean cuisine and roasted vegetables. The varying palate weights ensure you'll have the perfect wine for any dining occasion.

The collection includes both ready-to-drink options and wines with cellaring potential, particularly the museum releases and older vintages like the 2018 Cabernet Blend. The 2022-2023 vintages represent more youthful expressions that can be enjoyed now for their fresh fruit character or cellared for 5-10 years to develop greater complexity. The fact that some are designated as 'killer vintages' suggests exceptional growing conditions that typically produce wines with excellent aging potential.
