Why do we love this case?
The bold and the beautiful. The big and the robust. The ripe and rich. These beauties remind us why we love South Australian wines oh so much. And we know you do, too. That’s why we won’t make you pick just one to get you through the month (or week). The greatest Aussie hits, shiraz and cabernet, are here to battle it out for the position of your favourite drop. Whether it’s with friends, food, family or foes, you’re guaranteed that these beauties will make it a rip-roaring good time.
Each case contains TWO bottles of:
2x d'Arenberg The Wild Pixie Shiraz 2018
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
An internationally award-winning shiraz. Yep, we can wax lyrical about this wine and it’s prestige. However, we really love it for the idiosyncratic leap it takes out of the glass, enveloping you with a whirl of aromas. Shiraz made in this way, elevates from the stereotype. Think of it as classic McLaren Vale shiraz, that threw on an expensive perfume. How does that happen? Well, there’s an old-school French winemaking technique at play here. Done with so much deftness, it heightens the aromatics beyond ‘just another shiraz’ to a place of pure enticement. Inky in colour, it’s rich, yet far from heavy, this slinky shiraz moves to reveal dark berry fruits, a hint of liquorice and classic mouth puckering tannins.
You’d pay $32 full price.

2x Watkins Cellar Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
South Australia — Australia
These producers might be a new name to some, but their time in the industry goes way back. As evidenced by this cellar selection, they’ve honed the art of crafting wines that stand the test of time. This is an all-family affair, with the new generation stepping in to take the reigns. They’re finally releasing some beauties from their back vintages, and we were quick to jump in and bring our mofos that aged goodness. Cabernet off their currency creek vineyards gave this wine the confidence to see it through the last 6 years, with more still to come. This is the kind of wine that greets you like an old friend. Instantly familiar and merry, sure to entertain you for hours.
You’d pay $35 full price.

2x Pepper Tree Limited Release 'Block 7' Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Wrattonbully — Australia
Did we hear you call for aged cabernet? We don’t blame you, it’s the stuff of *insert god here* when you get it, and we’re not even talking about the really good stuff. Our producers in Wrattonbully do it best when it comes to cab, benefiting from the rich limestone and terra-rosa soils that neighbouring Coonawarra boasts. Come to expect lashings of blackcurrant and dark cherries, interlaced with fine grained tannins and a persistent finish. Beautiful, structured, elegant, and worth the wait.
You’d pay $35 full price.

2x Z Wines Hedley Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
We have a lot to say about this wine, but nothing will quite compare to getting it in your glass and going for the first sip. You know how they say less is more? We’re just going to say it simply: there’s nothing you won’t love here. Heavy extraction means you’ll get that deep purple colour and even deeper flavour. The oak isn’t the commanding element, but it has a presence that cannot be ignored. You will never go wrong with a glass of shiraz like this.
You’d pay $35 full price.

2x Ulithorne Familia Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
McLaren Vale shiraz, yes, but lithe and vibrant. A more medium-bodied feel leaves room for the lively fruit flavours to sing, unshackled from big, beefy, old-school styles. Classic brambly goodness skates on a fresh sheet of acidity, with just enough grippy tannin to keep it grounded. Miraculously food-friendly, there’s all the ingredients here for an infamous dinner party red. The kind you and your mates are liable to enjoy a wee bit too much of an evening.
You’d pay $40 full price.

Tasting Notes
2x Lou Miranda Estate Golden Lion Shiraz 2019
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
The universally-adored Lou Miranda shiraz is without a doubt one of our favourite wines, for so many reasons. All family owned, all female run, all quality driven, and all American oak are just some of the great things about this wine year after year. The 2019 vintage was a stand out vintage for Barossa, something you can’t help but notice in this fruit driven, dramatic wine. Dark berries, plums and abundant spices, with a toasty, creamy and coconut-rich finish. It’s big, bold, and ballsy drinking to sink your teeth into at important family get-togethers. This beast will cellar for a decade or more, easily. That’s no reason to shy away from opening it though. We’re betting this lion won’t stay caged for long.
You’d pay $50 full price.
