1x Fox Creek Reserve Shiraz 2021

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

Some of the fruit here comes off a McLaren Vale vineyard planted back in 1910 - gnarly old bush vines that have been tended by three generations of the same family. It’s a patch of dirt with deep clay soils, east-west rows to shield the fruit from the harsh summer sun, and roots that stretch forever thanks to access to good water. Translation? Vines that dig deep and deliver concentration, balance and serious power. This wine has helped put this producer firmly on the map - it's the flagship. It’s approachable enough to drink young if you can’t wait, but built for the cellar if you’ve got patience. Either way, it’s a reserve-level shiraz with history in its bones and proof in the pudding.

You'd pay $110 full price.

1x Robert Oatley Vineyards Finisterre Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Margaret River — Australia

The nose opens with cherry ripe and hints of vanilla. There’s obvious oak which, rather than overpower and detract from the fruit, merely adds another element of interest. It’s savoury with a gutsy core of savouriness, umami maybe? And that’s just the nose. Spice features early on the palate followed by a surge of fruit that runs through the spectrum of red to black. The tannin structure is bold and confident keeping everything in place. It finishes long and dry leaving you wondering what just happened. The fact there is so much going on and it remains entirely integrated is fascinating. Best go back for another look we say. Be warned though, you’ll probably be staring at the bottom of the bottle by the time you come to terms with each of the elements that make up this wine, it is intriguing. You could watch the bottle evolve over a few days and still discover something new with each sip.

You'd pay $45 full price.

1x Thousand Candles Gathering Field Cabernet Franc 2023

Red — Cabernet Franc

Yarra Valley — Australia

Cabernet franc is many things to many people. One of the most versatile grapes on the planet, this one comes in with a beautifully perfumed nose, fantastically energetic palate and seemingly endless depth of flavour. If you enjoy cab sauv, grenache, merlot... honestly, just get this in your glass. This one sees a good hit of whole bunch (around 30%) and a long, gentle soak on skins, which gives it that lifted perfume and subtle structure without turning it into a tannin bomb. Matured in seasoned French oak for several months and bottled without fuss, it’s all about purity and drinkability. Aromas lean toward red cherry, blackberry and a little juniper spice, with dried herbs and a faint floral note drifting through. There’s a cool-climate freshness that makes it feel alive from the first swirl. The palate sits in that beautiful medium-bodied zone - juicy red fruits up front, a hint of pink peppercorn and bay leaf, and a fine, chalky grip that keeps everything tidy. It’s balanced, energetic and dangerously easy to pour another glass.

1x Paringa Estate Peninsula Shiraz 2021

Red — Shiraz

Mornington Peninsula — Australia

This is a genuinely joyous glass of wine - perfumed, plush, and carrying real power without ever losing its prettiness. Black pepper, blueberry and violet lead the charge, setting up a palate that's bold but never clumsy about it. There's a tiny splash of Viognier in the blend, the same trick the French have been quietly pulling for years - and if you know what that little addition does, you already know it's nothing but good news here. Imagine giving a pepper grinder a good twist over a bowl of blackberry jam - that's the energy this Shiraz is working with. Rich blackberry and plum fill the mouth, but the cool-climate acidity keeps it light on its feet, and a savoury tug of tannin stops things from ever tipping into sluggish territory. Still remarkably primary despite a few years in bottle, this drinks beautifully now alongside something protein-heavy, and has genuine years ahead of it in the cellar. Lilac, tapenade, clove, a wash of blue fruit, all sitting on a cracked pepper backbone, finishing long and textured. Proof that this cooler pocket of the country has no business being underestimated when it comes to Shiraz.

You'd pay $35 full price.

1x Yelland & Papps YP Shiraz 2024

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

Some wines take themselves far too seriously. This is not one of those wines. This is Barossa Shiraz made purely for the sheer pleasure of drinking it - generous, vibrant and completely unpretentious. Blended from specifically curated parcels across the valley and matured in seasoned French oak. All the care and quality of the top tier, none of the ceremony. Blackberry, baking chocolate and a flicker of black pepper on the nose. The palate is supple and satisfying - plush dark fruit, warm spice and a soft savoury finish that makes the next pour feel completely automatic. This is the bottle you open on a Wednesday because you feel like something genuinely good. The one that disappears at a casual dinner before anyone's noticed what happened. Unmistakably Barossa. Completely delicious. Grab a few.

You'd pay $32 full price.

1x Handpicked Regional Selections Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Margaret River — Australia

Red currant, ground white pepper, pencil lead and a generous oak spice on the nose - varietal, precise and completely true to the Margaret River character that makes this region so celebrated for Cabernet. The palate is rich and concentrated, with graphite and spice nuances running right through to the finish alongside a structure and presence that tells you this wine was built with genuine intent and genuine quality fruit. This is Cabernet that followed the best possible fruit to the best possible place in the best possible year. And it shows in every sip. Ten years on and absolutely worth the wait.
