Why do we love this case?

We see an absolute shed-load of Shiraz at Vinomofo, literally. After countless tastings and plenty of robust debate, we've eventually settled on a line-up of wines that represent the highest-quality, most-awarded and, very importantly, most delicious, Shiraz that we have access to, right now! Whether it's a 96pt Dalwhinnie Moonambel or a 97pt Barossa flagship - we've got you covered.

1x Dalwhinnie Moonambel Shiraz 2017

Red — Shiraz

Pyrenees — Australia

It's hard to justify even writing this tasting note, as it'll all be sold out by them time anyone gets a chance to read it. In any case, the wine: blueberries and black cherries over vanilla, eucalypt, and sweet spice. Liquorice and fruit compote follow neatly, deftly behind the initial fruit burst. Among many things, this wine is further proof of the superiority of the stelvin closure as opposed to cork for ageing cool climate reds. This is wine made with the cellar in mind. It is just now hitting its stride, and what a stride it is. The fruit is remarkably fresh, but no aged characteristics like leather, wet earth and game have been sacrificed whatsoever. The density of the fruit is framed by maturity without being swamped by it, and the wine is able to hold its form through a lasting finish. This is truly a deal to jump at, and one you won't see again.

You'd pay $96 full price.

1x Schild Estate Prämie Shiraz 2021

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

Plush blackberries lead the initial swell of fruit on the palate, but then there is much more to discover. Raspberries, black cherries, nettle, espresso, toffee, bramble, cassis and chocolatey, vanillin oak... a certifiable explosion of complex flavour. The wine is structurally perfect, with tannins that build up the gums and toward the lasting finish. The fruit is along for the ride the whole way, persisting through the finish to finally punctuate the wine with moreish juicy berry generosity. A wine that practically begs you to lift the glass to your mouth and take another sip, and who am I to deny it?

You'd pay $90 full price.

1x Mitolo G.A.M Shiraz 2019

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

Year in, year out, this wine knocks our socks off but we've been impatiently waiting for this vintage to reach full maturity. It could be McLaren Vale etching it's way further and further into our hearts. It could be the fastidious and integrated use of oak barrels. It could be the 5 years spent developing and growing into its self. It could be because we flat out just love shiraz. Or, we could love it because you folks love it. Whatever it is, it steals our heart every time, and we're proud to be able to present it to you at such phenomenal value.

You'd pay $69 full price.

1x Haselgrove Tusail Shiraz 2020

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

Does it get any better than this? McLaren Vale shiraz with 96pts? From a bloody outstanding producer like Haselgrove? We say, say no more!! But if you’re not convinced yet, it is: 12 days on skins plunging thrice daily for full-throttle texture and flavour (not to mention the colour and tannins!), 20 months in French oak with all parcels kept separate and only blended to the highest standard. The vibrant core of wild berries, rich, savoury dark chocolate, and cedar notes complement. Sounds pretty good to us, are you convinced yet?

You'd pay $60 full price.

1x Ben Murray Wines Shiraz 2022

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

The winemaker's mantra of "hand-made, slow and gentle" seemingly belies the power and grunt of the wines he creates, year-in year-out. Our shiraz at hand has been harvested from the family-owned and operated vineyards of Marananga. These vineyards sit entirely within the famed western sub-region of the Barossa , and are known Australia-wide for superb Shiraz production and deep, rich soils interspersed with the occasional limestone slab. This is the first vintage made in the brand-spanking new, state of the art, winery and we agree with Peter Nixon, of the Wine Libertine, that this might just be "the finest [Black Market] Shiraz release to date".

You'd pay $45 full price.

1x Wolf Blass Grey Label Shiraz 2018

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

It is no secret that we are big fans of McLaren Vale shiraz, so forgive us if we wax a little lyrical here and show a little bias. The grey label shiraz is an absolute stunner and exactly what we want when indulging in a shiraz from the 'Vale — plushness, with power, with richness, and at six years of age it is entering a beautiful drinking window. A window that you can be happy to pop open at your next family bbq, the in-laws will mark you down as their favourite, Dad will be nudging you every 20 mins for a top up, Mum will be telling everyone how thoughtful you are. Now, your siblings might be a little jealous, but you, you will be chuffed. Chuffed with your purchase and the other five bottles you've got stashed away.

You'd pay $35 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This curated selection represents the pinnacle of Australian Shiraz craftsmanship, featuring wines scoring between 94-97 points from prestigious critics like Robert Parker and James Suckling. The collection spans premium regions and includes both established names like Wolf Blass and boutique producers, ensuring you experience the full spectrum of what makes Australian Shiraz world-renowned. Each bottle has been rigorously tested through countless tastings to guarantee exceptional quality and drinking pleasure.

Australian Shiraz expresses remarkable regional diversity, from the elegant, structured styles of cooler climates like Moonambel to the rich, powerful expressions from warmer areas like Barossa. This multi-regional approach means you'll discover how terroir influences everything from tannin structure to fruit concentration. The collection's varied regional sources ensure a comprehensive tasting journey through Australia's most celebrated Shiraz-producing areas, each contributing unique characteristics shaped by soil, climate, and winemaking traditions.

The rich, full-bodied nature of these Shiraz wines makes them perfect companions for robust dishes that can match their intensity. Think slow-cooked lamb shanks, grilled ribeye steaks, or hearty beef stews that complement the wines' dark fruit and spice characteristics. The chocolate and mocha notes in many of these wines also pair beautifully with aged cheeses or dark chocolate desserts, while the peppery spice elements enhance barbecued meats and game dishes.

With vintages ranging from 2017 to 2022, this collection offers both immediate drinking pleasure and cellaring potential. The older vintages like the 2017 Dalwhinnie are likely approaching their optimal drinking window, showing developed complexity and integrated tannins. The newer releases, particularly the 2021-2022 wines, have the structure and concentration to evolve beautifully over 5-10 years, developing secondary flavours of leather, tobacco, and earth that complement their primary fruit characteristics.

Scores of 94-97 points from respected critics like Robert Parker and James Suckling indicate wines of exceptional quality that represent the top tier of Australian Shiraz production. These ratings reflect not just immediate drinking pleasure, but also proper winemaking technique, varietal expression, and aging potential. The consistency of high scores across multiple critics and publications demonstrates that these wines have achieved broad recognition for their excellence, making this collection a reliable choice for both casual enjoyment and special occasions.
