Why do we love this case?
We see an absolute shed-load of Chardy here at Vinomofo, literally. After countless tastings and plenty of robust debate, we've eventually settled on a line-up of wines that represent the highest-quality, most-awarded and, very importantly, most delicious, Chardonnay that we have access to, right now! Whether it's a life-changing Margaret River rockstar or a gorgeously matured Mornington maverick - we've got you covered.
1x Hirsch Hill Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2024
White — Chardonnay
Yarra Valley — Australia
Crafted from Hirsch Hill’s most select, hand-harvested fruit and fermented in French oak (30% new), this Reserve chardonnay is a benchmark expression of the Yarra Valley’s real brilliance. Boutique 1-tonne ferments ensure precision and character, while the pristine fruit takes centre stage. In short: A well-composed, seamless Yarra Valley chardonnay that delivers both elegance and drive. The nose is bright and inviting - ripe orchard fruits, white peach, fig and floral lift, layered with that classic regional cashew, struck flint and a hint of oak vanillin. The palate is complex yet finely balanced: stone fruit depth, a touch of nuttiness, and beautifully judged oak, all carried by a line of taut acidity. It finishes tight and long, with a line of citrus and mineral drive that lingers. Still youthful now, this gorgeous chardonnay will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 4-5 years, revealing even greater depth and complexity with time. Or you could just drink it... it's looking good already.

1x Punch Wines Lance's Vineyard Chardonnay 2022
White — Chardonnay
Yarra Valley — Australia
The result of superior vineyards and incredible winemaking. A textural chardy that balances fruit with craftsmanship in the winery like few are able. There’s white peach and nectarine, with subtle toasty richness and seamless but lengthy finish. Punch Wines are quite possibly the most exciting boutique Yarra producer. They make some wicked wines well worthy of more recognition. This particular vineyard, to give you an idea, is near Christmas Hills, and is one of the oldest of the Yarra Valley. In short, it’s a bloody good spot to grow grapes. This chardy was whole bunch pressed directly into barrel, where it spent months resting on its lees and building all that toasty, rich complexity. This is not a showy wine, elegantly understated just like its maker. It calmly reveals its hand, holding all aces. Its probably got a few more up it’s sleeve for the coming years, too. Oh, and production numbers are remarkably low, so don’t delay.

1x Warramunda Estate Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2024
White — Chardonnay
Yarra Valley — Australia
A brilliant wine. Chardonnay that feels premium in every way. The weight. The length. The way it changes and evolves as it breathes a little. The sheer amount of complexity in every glass. We're decidedly in cooler fruits here; green apples, pears, green grapes, some grapefruit, plentiful citrus. That fruit is stretched across some tightly wound, nervy acidity that snakes it's way up the palate to eventually define the long, fantastic finish. This is a wine that will have you coming back for more.

1x Riversdale Estate Pisces Chardonnay 2025
White — Chardonnay
Tasmania — Australia
Incredible Aussie chardonnay; initially understated, yet powerful, and brimming with personality that just bursts out of the glass. Citrussy, creamy, rich and balanced. Gorgeous. Another knockout wine from one of our Coal River favourites. A bit on the fuller side for such a cool climate region, but we absolutely love that. There's a sophisticated mineral line running throughout, which delves into the salinity realm without going full Chablis. Peaches and apricots round out the fruit weight component, and the acid persists throughout, giving the wine magnificent line drive. Tasmania has such a capacity to produce excellence vintage after vintage, and this wine certainly hasn't bucked that trend.

1x Coombe Yarra Valley Estate Chardonnay 2024
White — Chardonnay
Yarra Valley — Australia
An intensely varietal and regional chardy that demands respect and deserves it too. This iconic producer pride themselves on the chardonnay they let out into the world, they take real care with this wine from go to whoa. From the first budding in the vineyard to the final bottling in the winery 10 months later, this has been watched over and genuinely looked after. The final result is a generous yet elegant wine giving white peach, lemon curd and even a touch of fresh cream. The concentrated palate has a savoury nuttiness, typical for the Yarra, and a wonderful texture building to a seriously classy finish.
You’d pay $40 full price.

1x Atlas Wines Block 9 Chardonnay 2024
White — Chardonnay
Adelaide Hills — Australia
A genuine Mofo favourite, this wine (and this producer) have become a beacon of consistency in a very unpredictable industry. Established in 2007, think of this winery as the cool, new kids on the block. What they don't have in age, they make up for in skill.
Welcome to one of our all-time favourite chardies. Crafted in small batches as they use only the most premium quality grapes, fruit for this particular chardonnay is sourced from the fantastic Woodside vineyard in Adelaide Hills. Balanced, bright and creamy, this lovely drop is a tropical bowl packed to the rim with melon, mango, peach and grapefruit. There’s a pillowy softness to the palate and a lively acid line that drives its long finish.
You’d pay $38 full price.
