Why do we love this case?
We see an absolute shed-load of Cab here at Vinomofo, literally. After countless tastings and plenty of robust debate, we've eventually settled on a line-up of wines that represent the highest-quality, most-awarded and, very importantly, most delicious, Cabernet that we have access to, right now! Whether it's a 2016 Bordeaux Supérieur or a 96pt Margs masterpiece - we've got you covered.
1x Maverick Wines Barossa Ridge Old Vine Cabernets 2019
Red — Cabernet Blend
Barossa — Australia
This is Barossa cabernets with confidence. No bluff, no bluster - just impactful, classy, powerful red wine. The nose is all about seduction: cassis and dark plum take centre stage, flanked by cedar, clove, and a brush of bay leaf adding depth and distinction. Blackberry, blackcurrant and black cherry poke through, layered with vanillin oak, earthy undertones, macerated plums and a faint smokiness that adds real gravitas. The first sip is where the true power of this wine becomes apparent. Rich and concentrated, yet classically composed. Juicy dark fruits are laced with firm, chalky tannins - structured but never sharp. There’s tension and drive, with a hint of graphitey minerality humming through the long, commanding finish. One for the cellar, or a statement bottle for a serious occasion.
You’d pay $150 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Cape Landing Blackwood Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Margaret River — Australia
This 2020 cabernet is a perfect balance of finesse and sheer force, made from hand-selected parcels grown on the Calgardup Road vineyard, some of Margaret River's premium gear. We're talking vine-by-vine selection, cool ferments, gravity draining, and 16 months in top-shelf French oak (35% new). All the bells, all the whistles - with a serious engine uner the hood.
On the nose, it’s a blissful blend of blackcurrant, violets, glazed cherries, cacao and liquorice. The palate comes in plush and seriously layered - black fruits, cherries and allspice propped up by velvet tannins, with dark chocolate and a minerality that lingers for juuuuust the right length. It's precise. It's opulent. It's pure Margaret River cabernet. A wine of structure and staying power, you can easily cellar this for 15+ years, but it’s already drinking beautifully. Decant it for your next roast or steak night and prepare for stunned, impressed silence at the table.
You’d pay $70 full price.

Yarra Valley — Australia
We've been saying it for years, and we will die on this hill - Yarra Valley cabernet is the most underrated wine in Australia. This wine typifies the style beautifully. Deep, concentrated, complex and structured, yet plush and packed with fruit generosity. 95pts from Halliday Wine Companion doesn't do it justice.
You’d pay $55 full price.

1x Château Laronde Desormes Bordeaux Supérieur 2016
Red — Cabernet Blend
Bordeaux — France
Left bank Bordeaux is some of the best wine in the world. That's no overstatement, and we doubt anyone would dispute this fact. The problem with these wines is that they need time to settle into themselves and really show their true colours, also, they're usually very, very, very expensive. You guessed it, that's where we come in! We've done the aging for you, this wasn't a forgotten about wine that's been sitting in the back of a truck for 10 years - this is carefully, professionally aged Bordeaux, we've even taken care of the price for you. All you have to do is pop the cork and let yourself be transported to the old world.
You’d pay $55 full price.

1x Penley Estate Black Bull Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Guess who’s back and ready to go? One of our favourite Coonawarra producers, Penley Estate, has done the hard work to bring back this Mofo favourite. Aptly named, this robust cabernet packs a punch with strong, flavourful and classic Coonawarra characteristics we’ve all come to love and enjoy. Dark fruits of the black forest abound and surround the recogniseable cedary, minty core; while framed with superb mineral tannins that allow for youthful drinking while still earning a nook in your cellar over the next 10+ years.
You’d pay $50 full price.
