1x Cape Barren Wild Goose Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Spoilt for choice of old vine shiraz, this producer captures the intensity of their vineyards in true style. They've built a reputation for wines that are true to McLaren Vale, and the generations of craft that have been invested into the region. There’s deeply bound notes of spicy, chocolatey french oak that complements the pure line of blackcurrant, bramble and licorice. Standing tall now, we can’t wait to see where this will be in many years time.

1x Chalk Hill The Range Block Shiraz 2023
Red — Shiraz
Australia — Australia
Chalk Hill is one of the most visited, most loved names in McLaren Vale, and this is exactly the kind of wine that’s earned them that reputation. Rich, big, genuinely luxurious Shiraz with enough dark-fruit power to go toe-to-toe with the (substantial) oak profile. Classic and classy. Crimson with a purple edge, solid right through the core. Raspberry cola and violets jump out of the glass first, followed by blackcurrant, warm spice and a mix of new and seasoned oak. The palate keeps that same energy - raspberry cola and dark cherry leading into structural oak and spice, with powerful dark fruit and a long finsh. There’s a lot happening in the glass, and it drinks with real forward motion. This isn’t a shy wine. It’s not trying to be.

1x Craneford Tribeca GSM 2023
Red — GSM
Barossa — Australia
Bright red and dark berries shape the palate, lifted by a ripple of spice and the natural generosity of the varieties. The fruit sits plush and mouthfilling, but the structure stays firm enough to keep everything in line. Soft tannins and a gentle warmth round it out, giving the wine an easy sense of flow. Bold, balanced and thoroughly crowd pleasing, it hits the sweet spot between richness and drinkability.

1x Thorn-Clarke Shotfire Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
To understand exactly what Barossa Shiraz is meant to taste like, all you need is a bottle of this bad boy. Rich, ripe, dark fruit, weighty mouthfeel, a good lick of oak and a beautiful structure that boades well for the future. And 95 points. Outstanding value. An instant classic. Dense plum and mulberry sit at the centre, backed by dark chocolate and charry, savoury oak that's been handled with real restraint. Blackberry and blueberry push through too, lifted by cedar and a touch of spice. Full-bodied, properly weighted, with tannins that hold everything in line right through to long, sapid finish. This is the classic style done with intent, and for what you're paying, it's close to ridiculous!

1x Thousand Candles Gathering Field Red Blend 2022
Red — Red Blend
Yarra Valley — Australia
This Yarra Valley Pinot-Shiraz blend is a style Australia's actually been making since the 1940s, there's a reason it's stuck around so long. This isn't a wine that wants you overthinking it. Crack it at lunch, take it to a picnic, and let it do what it's designed to do - put a smile on your face. A mostly-Pinot, hefty-Shiraz mix, with the Shiraz portion made using carbonic maceration to keep things bright and juicy rather than heavy. The result is a wine that leads with perfume and crunchy red fruit, genuinely easy to keep pouring and dancing that line between accessibility and complexity. Delicious, completely delicious.

1x Yelland & Papps YP Shiraz 2024

Barossa — Australia
Some wines take themselves far too seriously. This is not one of those wines. This is Barossa Shiraz made purely for the sheer pleasure of drinking it - generous, vibrant and completely unpretentious. Blended from specifically curated parcels across the valley and matured in seasoned French oak. All the care and quality of the top tier, none of the ceremony. Blackberry, baking chocolate and a flicker of black pepper on the nose. The palate is supple and satisfying - plush dark fruit, warm spice and a soft savoury finish that makes the next pour feel completely automatic. This is the bottle you open on a Wednesday because you feel like something genuinely good. The one that disappears at a casual dinner before anyone's noticed what happened. Unmistakably Barossa. Completely delicious. Grab a few.

1x Kangarilla Road Shiraz 2023

McLaren Vale — Australia
This is a helluva lot of wine for the price! A rich nose bursting with cherry ripe, ripe damsen plums, and a touch of eucalyptus to freshen it up. The palate is so devilishly moreish - mirroring the nose with firm tannins and driving acidity that balance the rounded, rich palate. It’s opulence you can enjoy to yourself at home without feeling guilty for breaking the bank.

We love our bread, we love our butter. But most of all, we love an estate Shiraz from a Barossa icon winery. This is classic Barossa Shiraz, absolutely delicious. This is spot-on for this producer, brimming with chocolate and boysenberry richness, coupled with plenty of black pepper and clove spice. This is shiraz, stripped back, unfussy, pure and simple. What a delight.

1x Redman Shiraz 2023

Coonawarra — Australia
This lot helped put Coonawarra on the map. And they did it with this wine. These world-famous icons have been making Shiraz out of Coonawarra for over a century, no wonder they've got it down to a fine art. Dark, deep, rich and concentrated with a youthful brightness and supporting structure. This is a really good Shiraz. Dense, dark and full of choc-blackberry character, with toasty spice and a lick of oak. The palate brings juicy red plum and liquorice supported by underlying cedar, earth and pepper, with fine, youthful tannins keeping everything fresh and energetic. A hundred years of practice on full display. This is Coonawarra Shiraz with clear intent. Overdelivers at every turn.

1x Madfish Cabernet Blend 2022

Sometimes a wine doesn't need a complicated story. It just needs to be really, really good. And this one is really, really good. The tannins are soft and pillowy, the structure is perfectly pitched and the finish is long enough to keep you thinking about that first sip for hours. Cedar spice, mint, dusty cocoa and dried sage on the nose - savoury and completely inviting before you've even taken a sip. The palate opens up into ripe raspberry, red liquorice and baking spices, with chocolate undertones and a generosity of red fruit that makes it genuinely hard to put down. Balanced acidity, powdery tannins and an earthy depth that gives it character well beyond what you'd expect at this price. Crack one open tonight alongside something slow-cooked . Or tuck a few away for the next few years and let it develop into a whole different beast.

1x Reschke R-Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Limestone Coast — Australia
The Limestone Coast has a knack for turning out cabernet with polish, Coonawarra is a sub-region here after all. From an excellent vintage, this gorgeous release is vibrant, fruit-driven, and packed with purity - a cabernet that proves elegance doesn’t mean lacking flavour. A medium-to-full-bodied cabernet loaded with red currant, cherry, and a hint of dark chocolate. Smooth, elegant, and ready to drink now - with a decade of life ahead. The palate is round and plush, carrying those berry flavours on fine, silky tannins. Oak plays a subtle, but important, supporting role, neatly integrated and never overdone. It’s a stylish cabernet, and it's drinking beautifully right now, but if you’re patient, it’ll keep evolving over the next ten years or so. Whether you’re cracking it midweek or stashing a few for the cellar, this one nails that balance of immediate enjoyment and future reward.

1x Serafino Wines Goose Island Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
This shiraz genuinely punches well above its weight - especially when you take into account the name on the label - delivering quality and complexity you'd expect from wines commanding significantly higher prices. It's got power, finesse and approachability, meaning you can geek out analysing all the layers or just pour generously and enjoy without overthinking. Vibrant, polished McLaren Vale shiraz crafted with estate-grown fruit sourced from two of this producer's most famous vineyards. 9 months in seasoned American (70%) and French (30%) oak brings a bit of grunt whilst retaining fruit purity. Ripe dark plum and spice aromas leading to a generous, structured palate - juicy black fruit, subtle peppery notes, a plush texture and fine supple tannins stretching to lingering finish. Store or pour - up to you - this one will be sitting pretty from now until 2030 at least!
