2x Wood Park Monument Lane Roussanne 2021
White — Roussanne
King Valley — Barossa
If you’re anything like us, you’re always on the lookout for a bit of roussanne to round out your cellar. As a variety it walks the line between zippy, energetic and textural so perfectly. This is brimming with the freshness of whole lemons, lime zest and grapefruits as well as nutty hazelnut richness and gooey-honey goodness. It’s the ultimate utility white; purpose built for broad appeal (and broader smiles).
You’d pay $29 full price.

2x Santolin Cosa Nostra Vermentino 2021
White — Vermentino
Alpine Valleys — Barossa
If you’re not already drinking vermentino then you’re missing out - not only is it delicious and interesting, but there is amazing value to be found in the varietal (case in point!). This is citrusy, mineral and saline; crushed oyster shell and a little bit of sea spray accents what is a lemon-lime driven aromatic profile. There is grapefruit and a bit of grassyness on offer too, think sauv blanc but a little edgier and more savoury. This is the perfect wine for anyone looking to drink beyond the ‘usual suspects’. Did we mention it’s limited, too. So get it while you can.
You’d pay $28 full price.

2x Twin Valleys Fiano 2022
White — Fiano
King Valley — Barossa
Fiano is one of the newer Italian arrivals on the scene and we couldn’t be happier that it’s here. Fiano is a versatile grape and suits a lot of growing conditions, from the Mediterranean climate of McLaren Vale to the alpine freshness of the King Valley. This KV example is a touch lighter and brighter than what you’d get from the Vale - sitting closer to grigio than say, viognier. There is still heaps of fruit and florals in this wine and acid to accompany all sorts of foods - though no doubt best with something southern Italian.
You’d pay $27 full price.

2x Geoff Hardy K1 Gruner Veltliner 2021
White — Gruner Veltliner
Adelaide Hills — Barossa
When Geoff Hardy shoots, he scores. This is a slam-dunk kinda wine. Widely known as the most planted grape in its homeland of Austria, this sassy grape has got it going on when it comes to alternative white wine drinking. Bright notes of lime are followed by intense floral notes, lemon sherbert and a powerful citrus crunch. Mouth-filling, textured and complete with a lip-smacking tang.
You’d pay $26 full price.

2x Pepper Tree Wines SSB 2022
White — SSB
Hunter Valley — Barossa
With Sauvignon Blanc sourced from the high altitude, volcanic soils of Orange; and Semillon plucked right out of the slatey, limestone rich soils of the Hunter Valley, this classic SSB is bursting with unique personality. A perfect 50/50 split; the sauvignon blanc brings exotic passionfruit vibes and a lingering gooseberry note to balance. The semillon raises the stakes to an ever elegant level and provides austere lemon and a subtle waxy nettle that ensures you’ll be very pleased; particularly when you zoom in on the price you can get this for. Can you afford not to?
You’d pay $23 full price.

Tasting Notes
2x M. Chapoutier Tournon Mathilda Viognier Marsanne 2015
White — Viognier
Victoria — Barossa
A classic Rhône-style white blend made right here in Australia. Aged on lees in stainless steel, the wine is pure of fruit but laden with texture and tension. You’ll find stone fruit, minerality and even a bit of viscosity in this one. This is the kind of wine that builds in confidence with some time in bottle, so it’s a pretty big deal to have this one land with seven years to show. Pretty neat little number for your weeknight’s desires.
You’d pay $20 full price.
