Why do we love this case?
We know you love aged shiraz, cabernet, and other reds. And we know you love it when the critics rave. So we've combined the two and, hey presto! Here's a pack that truly bests the sum of its parts. Aged reds in concert with one another, a tour of Australia's historical wine landscape. Roll up your sleeves and dig in, 'cause this one's something special.
1x First Drop Fat of the Land Seppeltsfield Shiraz 2016
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Aged? tick. Single vineyard? Tick. Iconic producer? Tick. John Retsas does wonders when it comes to single vineyard expressions of shiraz. Each wine handled with respect for the vineyard from which it came, this beauty is on the broodier, savoury style spectrum. Awash with chocolate, morello cherries, leather and christmas spices. Our buyer Tully has put this Seppeltsfield shiraz amongst the top wines she tried this year. So yeah, you could say it’s a pretty bloody good drop.
You’d pay $130 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Serafino Sharktooth Shiraz 2016
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
This producer is an icon of the Vale, they are almost enviable in their status. We're excited to welcome them to the mofo family, and they decided to repay the favour with one of their most coveted wines. This is McLaren Vale through and through: with deep chocolate and roasted coffee notes supported by dense but finely balanced oak framework. This is arguably only just starting to come into its prime with a little time in bottle, so enjoy a few now and save a few for later; but don't wait to grab one of the few cases we're offering now.
You’d pay $70 full price.

1x Reschke Bos Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
This is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The needle in the haystack. This is why we show up to work every day and search the globe for the best wines. This right here, is the epitome of aged Coonawarra cabernet. Reschke are Coonawarra legends, and they don't hold back on the time and care that goes into their wines. Halliday would certainly agree, awarding the 2015 'Bos' 95pts in a recent tasting. Vibrant blackcurrant and oak have come together, tannins mellowed and earthy, secondary elements emerged. Enjoy drinking from the top shelf, you deserve it.
You’d pay $55 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Vineyard Road Alessandra Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Barossa Valley — Australia
This producer underscores the importance of good fruit in the execution of good wine. It seems obvious, but it is often glossed over; to create wines of distinction the hard work must be done in the vineyard to produce top quality grapes. They’ve without a doubt achieved that here; raspberry, cassis, plum, fruit compote. Then the tobacco, charred wood, marmalade, dry earth, and cedar chimes in, as if on cue. The hardest part about enjoying aged wine is the waiting, so lucky for you we've done that for you. This is ready to go - in all it's graceful glory.
You’d pay $95 full price.

1x Alkoomi Wines Jarrah Shiraz 2016
Red — Shiraz
Frankland River — Australia
Fruit forward, jammy spice, and still fresh as a daisy. This is hand selected premium fruit from old shiraz vines. Hand harvested, fermented and matured in partial new oak (around one third); everything here points to quality. Deep, black fruit sit atop vanilla and sweet pastry essence making for a wholly joyous and powerful drinking experience. Remarkable fresh, too, given its not insignificant stint in the cellar - with more years to go yet, should you choose to wait and see how this wine matures. For me, though, this is picture perfect as is, and it won't last long in my house.
You’d pay $50 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x d'Arenberg The Blewitt Sands Grenache 2012
Red — Grenache
McLaren Vale — Australia
This wine is as romantic as the name sounds. Trust d'Arenberg to make a long-lived, incredibly expressed bottle of grenache. Coming off a single vineyard in the McLaren Vale sub-region of Blewitt Springs which is known for its sandy soils and supremely aromatic grenache. Give it a little bit of the d'Arenberg touch (heavy maceration, time in quality oak) and you're looking at a wine that has earned its stripes.
You’d pay $105 full price.
