Why do we love this case?
This is the summit, mofo. The ‘Best in Class’ of the wine world. Wines beloved by the experts and novices alike. The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanboys and girls who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 95 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.
Each case contains ONE bottle of each of the following:
1x School House Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
School House is a favourite of ours here at the ‘fo, and you’ll understand why when you crack open a bottle. This vineyard is their most premium, located in near Penola, and is a site rich in history to the community and grows outstanding wine. The wine is rich, ripe and unctuous, with loads of black currants, vanilla, subtle bayleaf and cedar notes linger through. Lay this one down for a few extra years mofo, it won’t hurt.

1x Rosenvale Vineyards Vine Vale Road Shiraz 2020
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
This is serious Shiraz, mofo. Coming from the legends at Rosenvale, a Barossa Valley winery who were established all the way back in 1850’s. Their lands today are diverse and rich in character, with many vineyards going back 80+ years. James Rosenweig is now the 6th generation to take care of vines in Barossa, and has earnt himself the neat ol’ title of a Baron of Barossa for his dedication to the region’s industry.
As for this particular wine, after the grapes are picked at perfect ripeness to give voluptuous fruit quality, which sees a couple of years in new and seasoned French oak barrels. The resulting wine is dark and deep, with blueberries, spice and a touch of white pepper on the nose. The palate is full of fine tannins and rich red fruits like cherries and plums. It’s not just a mofo fave- it’s an all round consumer fave bringing in an impressive 4.2 rating on Vivino. Certainly not something you see every day on there. Calling all Aussie red lovers, this one should catch your attention!
You’d pay $60 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Indómita Duette Cabernet Carménère 2019
Red — Cabernet Blend
Maipo Valley — Chile
We haven’t had a wine from Chilean producer Indómita since the 2015 vintage. Not sure why, it just kinda happened that way. But there’s nothing like a Gold medal and 96 point score from Decanter to remind you that it’s time to reignite that relationship! This 50/50 blend of cabernet sauvignon and carménère (the unofficial national grape of Chile) is an absolute stunner. Carménère serves in the same role as merlot (some argue they are potentially the same genetically) in making what shapes up to be an exceptional Chilean take on a Bordeaux-style red blend. It’s dark, spicy, full of fruit, framed with structure, and given to an incredibly lengthy finish. Welcome back, Indómita!

Tasting Notes
1x Haselgrove Il Padrone Shiraz 2019
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Lovers of classic Vale shiraz will adore this one from Haselgrove! It’s big (but not ponderous), rich, round and offers loads of deep, inky goodness to get lost in. There’s plush, chewy berries with hints of peppery spice and leather that float intriguingly across the palate. Plums, blueberries and juicy black cherries dominate the fruit spectrum, in that inimitable Vale dark coffee-cake profile. It’ll get even more interesting in a few years’ time, but I, for one, won’t be able to keep my hands off it.
You’d pay $45 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x B by Fonbadet Bordeaux AOC 2019
Red — Cabernet Blend
Bordeaux — France
When you start getting insanely high Decanter scores (97pts!) and enough gold to satisfy even the most bling-obsessed person you know, then you’d assume you’re dealing with some incredibly expensive Bordeaux. Guess you’d be wrong in this instance. Not on the quality of course, but on the price. This might be our best Bordeaux deal ever. We don’t need to go into too much detail on the wine. We’ll let the Decanter review below do the heavy lifting. We’ll just say ‘ditto’ to that.
You’d pay $35 full price.
