Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this case?

The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanpeople who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 95 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.

2x Dandelion Vineyards 'Lioness of the McLaren Vale' Shiraz 2020

McLaren Vale — Australia

Dandelion Vineyards are one of those producers we have always admired: such a range of wines that really speak to quality and attention. So of course, McLaren Vale shiraz got us a little excited, and the wine really lived up to expectations. Densely laden with purity of fruit and a texture building oak profile: it's very hard to say no to a second glass of this gem.

You'd pay $30 full price.

2x Dowie Doole 'DD' Shiraz 2021

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

This 2021 DD shiraz performs way above its paygrade. A clever concoction born from blending fruits from two vastly different vineyards (one perched on cool slopes and the other on sandy soils) it manages to be rich, flavoursome and oh so generous. A lengthy 20-month stint in 90% French oak and 10% new American oak have unearthed notes of chocolate, spices, coffee, liquorice and blackberries that result in impressive length and luscious texture. At its best now and for the next decade. Bottoms up!

2x Auld Family 'The Ernie' Single Vineyard Shiraz 2022

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

The Barossa Valley is home to quite a few multi-generational wine families. There are legacies as far as the eye can see, stretching across the Barossa plains and rooted as deep as the oldest vineyards. The Aulds are one such family, with the current generation Sam and Jock paying tribute to their lineage who were planting Australian vineyards in the mid 1800's. They know quality when they see it, and they never fail to hit the mark. We guarantee, one sip of the Ernie shiraz and you won't be looking back.

2x Reschke Reserve Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Smooth and rich Coonawarra cab? Say no more. We’re not going to talk to you like you don’t know what to expect, and instead we’re going to tell you why this wine is the next best thing. There’s everything you crave in the style: cocoa, minty, eucalypt mingling with blackcurrants aplenty. What’s that? Oh, in comes a smattering of smokey spice, a dollop of dark jammy fruits, and an emerging earthy tone that sets everything in its place.

You'd pay $55 full price.

2x Ulithorne Familia Shiraz 2021

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

McLaren Vale shiraz, yes, but lithe and vibrant. A more medium-bodied feel leaves room for the lively fruit flavours to sing, unshackled from big, beefy, old-school styles. Classic brambly goodness skates on a fresh sheet of acidity, with just enough grippy tannin to keep it grounded. Miraculously food-friendly, there’s all the ingredients here for an infamous dinner party red. The kind you and your mates are liable to enjoy a wee bit too much of an evening.

You'd pay $40 full price.

2x Haselgrove Cul Stor Shiraz Cabernets 2021

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

Multiple vintages of Haselgrove's Cul Stor shiraz blend have rushed into our warehouse and zoomed straight back out and to your front door faster than you can say ‘shiraz blended with cab sav and a splash of cab franc’. At its core, we have all the plush dark berries, plums and chocolatey goodness that you’d expect from Mclaren Vale. But the blend of cabernets is what lifts this drop way above entry level, firm tannins and a liveliness on the back palate provide wonderful length and serious structure; perfect to pair with your good old fashioned Sunday roast lamb with all the trimmings.

You'd pay $45 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wines achieving 95+ points represent the pinnacle of winemaking excellence, demonstrating exceptional complexity, balance, and ageing potential that separates them from everyday bottles. These scores reflect wines with pristine fruit expression, masterful oak integration, and the kind of structural integrity that allows them to evolve beautifully over decades. Critics award these rarified scores to wines that showcase their terroir with such clarity and finesse that they become benchmarks for their respective regions and varieties.

This collection transcends traditional regional and varietal boundaries by focusing purely on quality - each wine has earned the coveted 95+ point threshold that less than 1% of wines ever achieve. The diversity from McLaren Vale Shiraz to Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon demonstrates how exceptional winemaking can emerge from various Australian terroirs when conditions align perfectly. This approach allows wine lovers to explore how different regions and grape varieties can all reach the same pinnacle of excellence through distinct pathways.

The rich, full-bodied nature of these wines stems from optimal grape ripeness, extended maceration periods, and careful oak maturation that builds layers of complexity over time. The chocolate, spice, and dark fruit characters develop through the interaction between concentrated grape tannins and carefully selected oak, while earthy and meaty notes emerge from extended lees contact and malolactic fermentation. These winemaking techniques, combined with fruit from premium vineyard sites, create the depth and intensity that critics recognise as truly exceptional.

Single vineyard wines represent the purest expression of a specific site's terroir, allowing winemakers to capture the unique soil, climate, and aspect characteristics that make each location distinct. Boutique producers typically have the luxury of hand-selecting their finest parcels and employing labour-intensive techniques that larger operations cannot economically justify. This combination of site specificity and artisanal attention to detail often results in wines with greater personality and complexity than mass-produced alternatives.

Wines of this quality deserve proper preparation - decant them 1-2 hours before serving to allow their complex aromatics to fully develop and any bottle shock to dissipate. Serve at cellar temperature (16-18°C) in large bowled glasses that concentrate the bouquet while providing adequate surface area for swirling. Take time to appreciate the evolution in the glass, as these wines will continue revealing new layers of flavour and aroma over the course of an evening, rewarding patient and attentive tasting.
