Why do we love this case?
The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanpeople who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 95 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. Cabernet off their currency creek vineyards gave this wine the confidence to see it through the last 6 years, with more still to come. This is the kind of wine that greets you like an old friend. So of course, McLaren Vale shiraz got us a little excited, and the wine really lived up to expectations. Guess who’s back and ready to go? One of our favourite Coonawarra producers, Penley Estate, has done the hard work to bring back this mofo fave drop. Aptly named, this robust cabernet packs a punch with strong, flavourful and classic Coonawarra characteristics we’ve all come to love and enjoy. Dark fruits of the black forest abound and surround the recogniseable cedary, minty core; while framed with superb mineral tannins that allow for youthful drinking while still earning a nook in your cellar over the next 10+ years.

Wow - this is a knockout. At the price this wine commands, you literally could not find anything better. We try a lot of wines here, and to say that this one was instantly outstanding is barely touching on how impressed we were. Incredible aromatics meet you on the nose, a tribute to the cab sauv that makes up a quarter of the blend. Shiraz shines with a bountiful expression of plum, blackberry and preserved cherries - the good ones that you save for your Sunday roast. Give us an hour to talk about this wine, and we’d do so without skipping a beat.

'Jubey' was a word thrown around a lot on the tasting bench, so you know it must be true. Luscious, smooth, and fruit driven: this is a wine you could sink your teeth into every night.

Immediately nutty, chocolaty aromatics rise from the glass - you can almost feel the warmth and fullness. Plump, plush and uber-friendly; this is an easy-going approachable red blend through and through. The cocoa nib profile continues through the palate, as well as ripe red fruit and a bit of cigar box. More than any other wine, blends need to nail balance. This hits that brief brilliantly with notable contributions form all varietals - truly a wine that beats the sum of its parts.
