Why do we love this case?
The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanpeople who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 95 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.
2x Penley Estate Black Bull Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Guess who’s back and ready to go? One of our favourite Coonawarra producers, Penley Estate, has done the hard work to bring back this mofo fave drop. Aptly named, this robust cabernet packs a punch with strong, flavourful and classic Coonawarra characteristics we’ve all come to love and enjoy. Dark fruits of the black forest abound and surround the recogniseable cedary, minty core; while framed with superb mineral tannins that allow for youthful drinking while still earning a nook in your cellar over the next 10+ years.
You’d pay $50 full price.

2x Pertaringa 'Belonging to the Hills' GSM 2022
Red — GSM
McLaren Vale — Australia
The Pertaringa name is no stranger to the Aussie household. The iconic Hardy family are to wine what vegemite is to toast: a perfect match. Take a great vintage, a world-famous blend, and classic McLaren Vale calibre and you have a wine that is almost impossible to get sick of. 'Jubey' was a word thrown around a lot on the tasting bench, so you know it must be true. Luscious, smooth, and fruit driven: this is a wine you could sink your teeth into every night.
You’d pay $30 full price.

2x Farmer's Leap Pillar Box Red 2021
Red — Shiraz Blend
Padthaway — Australia
Wow - this is a knockout. At the price this wine commands, you literally could not find anything better. We try a lot of wines here, and to say that this one was instantly outstanding is barely touching on how impressed we were. Incredible aromatics meet you on the nose, a tribute to the cab sauv that makes up a quarter of the blend. Shiraz shines with a bountiful expression of plum, blackberry and preserved cherries - the good ones that you save for your Sunday roast. Give us an hour to talk about this wine, and we’d do so without skipping a beat.
You’d pay $22 full price.

2x Taltarni Vineyards Estate Shiraz 2020
Red — Shiraz
Pyrenees — Australia
The Pyrenees region might be a small drop in the sea of Victorian winemaking, but the quality is consistently higher from this region of overachievers. And we think this one’s pretty spectacular. So spectacular, I’ve known previous vintages of this wine to be amongst my favourite shiraz. Ever. It has shades of violets and a concentrated, fruit forward nose. A little bit of the Rhône-esque characters of meat and game compliment the floral dark fruits, with a touch of well-handled oak to impart such luscious tannic structure. Oh my, this is not just unique. It’s glorious.

2x Henry's Drive Shiraz Cabernet 2020
Red — Shiraz Blend
McLaren Vale — Australia
Welcome to smooth town! This powerful shiraz cab blend is soft red and purple fruits, complimented by a few years’ age and a touch of American oak. This wine is drinking at its prime and will reward you with many great winter drinking moments. It is in between medium and full-bodied, with bold plums and cherries and a quite savoury finish. I hate to use the term ‘winter warmer’ but it really is! Match with your choice of braise or Moussaka and you’ll feel toasty while you toast.
You’d pay $40 full price.
