Why do we love this case?
This is the summit, mofo. The ‘Best in Class’ of the wine world. Wines beloved by the experts and novices alike. The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanpeople who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 95 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.
2x Viveur Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Adelaide Hills — Australia
Oh do we love Adelaide Hills shiraz! Medium-bodied, easy to drink, savoury, perfect with an array of foods. This one’s got all the magic touches - single vineyard, basket pressed, time in French oak. The fruit expresses itself as blackberry, plum and cherry and there’s a lovely spicy hit on the finish derived from the barrel ageing. So interesting and so very easy to drink.
You’d pay $32 full price.

2x Ulithorne Familia Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
McLaren Vale shiraz, yes, but lithe and vibrant. A more medium-bodied feel leaves room for the lively fruit flavours to sing, unshackled from big, beefy, old-school styles. Classic brambly goodness skates on a fresh sheet of acidity, with just enough grippy tannin to keep it grounded. Miraculously food-friendly, there’s all the ingredients here for an infamous dinner party red. The kind you and your mates are liable to enjoy a wee bit too much of an evening.
You’d pay $40 full price.

2x Monterra Altero Durif 2021
Red — Durif
McLaren Vale — Australia
Durif goes down in the Aussie legends book. This wonder of a wine helped put Australia on the global map, and we continue to nurture these vines across the country for our drinking pleasure. All the decadent fruit richness of shiraz, with the tannic, blue-fruited profile that we adore from cabernet. It’s no wonder us Aussies truly go mad for this variety.
You’d pay $27 full price.

2x Bec Hardy Village Green Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
A 96pt McLaren Vale shiraz from the famous Bec Hardy? Yes, please. This one’s an easy call. It’s sourced from two vineyards in the Vale, one that’s a bit cooler and one that’s from the famous Blewitt Springs area. 15% new French oak adds just enough structure but still lets the fruit hum to the tune of plums, black cherries and spice.
You’d pay $27 full price.

2x Farmer's Leap Pillar Box Red 2021
Red — Shiraz Blend
Padthaway — Australia
Wow - this is a knockout. At the price this wine commands, you literally could not find anything better. We try a lot of wines here, and to say that this one was instantly outstanding is barely touching on how impressed we were. Incredible aromatics meet you on the nose, a tribute to the cab sauv that makes up a quarter of the blend. Shiraz shines with a bountiful expression of plum, blackberry and preserved cherries - the good ones that you save for your Sunday roast. Give us an hour to talk about this wine, and we’d do so without skipping a beat.
You’d pay $22 full price.

2x Claymore London Calling Cabernet Malbec 2021
Red — Cabernet Blend
Clare Valley — Australia
This cab-malbec from the Clare shows off a deliciously drinkable, and dare I say fun side to the region. Clare is famous for their deep, dark-fruited and structured reds and while this wine has depth and structure - it also has juicy red berries, floral notes and total smashability. It’s from a producer who don’t take themselves too seriously, making a collection of young-at-heart, but very well-made wines. If you like your cabernet with a bit more richness and fruit power, which malbec certainly delivers, this could be the wine for you.
You’d pay $22 full price.
