Quite simply, this is as good as it gets. When it comes to the judgement and rating of wine there is one voice - one endorsement - that rings a little louder and reverberates a little longer: James Halliday and the Halliday Wine Companion.

1x Balgownie Estate Museum Release Shiraz 2008
Red — Shiraz
Bendigo — Australia
Dense black fruits, herbaceous and spicy with a weighty, oak-supported backbone and soft tannins on the lingering finish. 15+ years of bottle age has brought a deep complexity and added all those wonderful tertiary notes that us aged-red-heads are constantly searching for. An early adopter of the screw-cap closure, this producer was looking firmly toward the future (even back in the early naughties), and the grace and elegance with which this wine has aged is a testament to that foresight. We're completely stoked with this drop. If it's not perfect, it's pretty bloody close.
You’d pay $115 full price.

1x Reschke Cellar Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
This family winery have been landowners in Coonawarra for over 100 years. They are Coonawarra experts and the jewel in their crown is, of course, cabernet sauvignon. Their wines consistently score highly with critics and this 2020 cellar release is a showcase of a deep understanding of the land and masterstroke winemaking.
The blackberry fruit concentration is immense and elevated by fine, dancing tannin. It wouldn't be Coonawarra without the marriage of mint and tobacco, rounding out mouth-feel and driving complexity. This is fantastic drinking now and will age gracefully for another decade.
You’d pay $65 full price.

1x Schild Estate Ben Schild Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
Dark black cherry and blackcurrant aromatics practically scrambling to get out of the glass - this is so flashy and showy up front. The palate is smooth and opulent, with a satisfying long finish marked by blood plum, chocolate, and a little whiff of sweet tobacco. Subtle oak tannin provides structure to the fruit. If you're looking for a wine to define both vintage and varietal, this is it.
You’d pay $50 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Yelland & Papps Single Vineyard Stone Well Syrah 2023
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
A single-vineyard stunner from our Mofos' most loved premium producer. Powerful, deft and delicate with a nod to "Rhôney" styles, there's still plenty of punch packed behind this instantly recognisable label. A wine designed to showcase what the Stone Well sub-region of Barossa is all about: Ripe black and red fruit, wild violets and savoury, spicy nuance. You can tell that some serious skill has been applied with some serious care here. There's an overt subtlety to every aspect of the fruits and aromas whilst a backbone of French oak and powdery tannin brings some up front grunt and build a lenghty back end. Thoroughly enjoyable as a youthful wine with undeniable aging potential. There's no way we're going to be able to hold on to this for 5 years... if you've got more patience than us, set a reminder for 2030 and give us a call, we can't wait to see what could be.
You’d pay $49 full price.

1x Wise Leaf Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Margaret River — Australia
This wine absolutely typifies Margaret River cabernet sauvignon. Purity of fruit and flavour concentration are at the forefront of this wine; dark, oaky, yet vibrant. An absolute winner - for any type of dinner. Margaret River cabernet is a beautiful thing, (somewhat) medium-bodied yet crammed full of expressive black and purple fruit, tasteful oak and a lingering tannin structure. There's all the hallmarks of a wine ready to go the distance in the cellar but we'd guess that very few (if any) people will be able to keep their hands off it once they've had a taste. A well-made, well-matured wine with pitch perfect regionality and remarkable fruit expression.
You’d pay $45 full price.

1x Stonehaven Wines Limited Vineyard Release Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Wrattonbully — Australia
This is a BIG wine, but a balanced one, velvety tannins and bright natural acid add a lively structure and lengthy, sustained finish. Completely delicious in every way. The big man himself, Mr James Halliday, said, on his way to slapping a big old 96 point rating on this wine, "extended skin contact and barrel fermentation might have been an exercise in winemaking prowess, but in fact is more than that...". And it is. It's more than any one or two elements that make this such a terrific wine, truly a shiraz that's so much more than the sum of its parts.
You’d pay $30 full price.
