One of the greatest whiskies to slide across our tasting bench here at Mofo HQ, the Glenfarclas 30 Year Old is a masterfully crafted showcase of exceptional quality. Direct-fired stills produce complex, toasty, delicious base spirit that is then lovingly aged in Spanish ex-Oloroso and Fino sherry barrels for over 30 years. Fruitcake, coffee, chocolate and orange rind on biscuity toasted notes envelop the olfactories. The palate is simply marvellous, with almond and honeyed biscuits melded with fruit mince and toffee. What a pure joy to drink.

Why do we love this whisky?
Unwavering dedication to utilising traditional methods, partnered with 180 years of family know-how places Glenfarclas as one of the most well-respected distilleries in the Scottish Highlands. A key to this success is the use of traditional direct-fired stills which, while more expensive, labour intensive and time consuming than more modern methods, create base spirit widely regarded as the best in the biz. This deliciously well-produced and complex spirit is then nurtured in barrels for at least 30 years before bottling. This is quality on an unprecedented scale.
