1x Powell & Son Riverside GSM 2020
Red — GSM
Barossa Valley — Australia
One more time around the block we say... bringing us into the third vintage of this stunning wine from the legendary craftsmanship of Dave Powell. A regional icon of an iconic region. It’s bright and juicy, with elegant tannin and layered complexity. The palate’s exploding with blackcurrant and raspberry compote, sweet red cherries and licorice. The generous splash of mataro adds a delightful medicinal undertone to this one - wine tonic for all your ailments. It’s plush enough for the winter, and will take a quick chill in the fridge over the heat of summer. No matter when, where, or who you share this with, it’s guaranteed not to disappoint.
You’d pay $30 full price.

1x Vintage Longbottom H Medium Dry Red 2021
Red — Cabernet Blend
McLaren Vale — Australia
Our producers know how to make some vino. Seriously, and I try A LOT of wine at my job, especially from the prized vineyards of McLaren Vale. So what’s the deal with this one? Cabernet, shiraz and grenache are all at the party, a little show-and-tell of the region’s heroes varietals. It’s juicy at the fore, presenting with blackberries, redcurrants, and herbs. However, the midline is where it’s really at, playing the long game and lingering on the palate with bright cherry fruit. This is almost too good.
You’d pay $28 full price.

1x Haselgrove Batch 187 Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre 2019
Red — Shiraz Blend
McLaren Vale — Australia
They’re not joking when they say ‘shiraz blend’. This little number has been put together from select parcels of McLaren Vale’s finest red grapes. It was created with the European market in mind - they’re no strangers to blends there. There are loads of big, rich ripe fruits, of course, but a certain elegance pervades its mosaic-like palate. There are soft, subtle nuances in flavour you wouldn’t get from a straight varietal alone. Alongside fruit-cake berries sit coffee grounds, dried Provence herbs and a soft tickle of baking spice. Something a little different from Haselgrove, and very welcome at that.
You’d pay $25 full price.

1x Olivares Tinto 2020
Red — Red Blend
Jumilla — Spain
Bodegas Olivares are a family-run winery in the sunny region of Jumilla in the south-east of Spain that we’re always proud to work with. We’ve always received some of our best value wines from them, vintage after vintage. This is a rework of the popular GSM, with the local monastrell (or ‘mataro’ to Aussies) taking the lead role to make an MGS. The wine has sun-drenched summer fruit with a fresh, breezy acidity from the high altitude in which it’s grown. With sweet, swarthy berries and an exotically spiced finish, we can attest that it’s bloody hard to turn down a second (or third) glass.
You’d pay $24 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Andrew Peace Full Moon Durif 2019
Red — Durif
Swan Hill — Australia
Durif is also known as ‘petit syrah’, but there is nothing ‘petit’ ie. small about it... this can rival any delicious full bodied red. The uniqueness of durif, and indeed this wine, is in the aromas; more vibrancy in blue florals such as violets, with a perfume that overlays a rich wine, that doesn’t sit aggressively in tannins. Andrew Peace’s Full Moon is wonderfully generous but supple, and a gift of nature for juicy rich wine lovers. So delicious.
You’d pay $23 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Claymore London Calling Cabernet Malbec 2021
Red — Cabernet Blend
Clare Valley — Australia
This cab-malbec from the Clare shows off a deliciously drinkable, and dare I say fun side to the region. Clare is famous for their deep, dark-fruited and structured reds and while this wine has depth and structure - it also has juicy red berries, floral notes and total smashability. It’s from a producer who don’t take themselves too seriously, making a collection of young-at-heart, but very well-made wines. If you like your cabernet with a bit more richness and fruit power, which malbec certainly delivers, this could be the wine for you.
You’d pay $22 full price.
