Meet your dealer: Nicci Coffey
Our Wine Dealers are much like fine art dealers, but for wine. It’s an opt-in only service, so you kinda have to be in the know. Whether you’re a newbie and want to chat vino basics, or you’re finessing your twenty-year cellar plan, they’re here to level up your wine experience. Nicci has been with Vinomofo almost four years, as the Wine Team’s official Culture Unicorn (legit title).
What do you love about wine?
So many things! It brings people together - I mean, you can drink a bottle to yourself (no shame here!) but wine, like so many things, is better shared. I love the special memories it creates, from adventures in picturesque wine regions to sharing a meaningful bottle in the park with a loved one. I love the passionate people behind the craft, the connection to the earth, the history, the many, many flavours, the pretty labels - the whole package!
If you were a wine, what would you be? Why?
Pink bubbles for sure, because I’m pink and bubbly and get you in the mood for dancing!
What’s the unsung wine you think everyone should be drinking?
Riesling from Alsace. Fruity, juicy, so much flavour and just goes so well with spicy Thai food. Yum.
What exactly is it that you do as a Wine Dealer?
As the Wine Team Unicorn, as well as making sure my delightful mofos get the best possible wine experience, I organise our daily tastings, and generally sprinkle a bit of rainbow sparkle magic amongst the team :)
What’s the best part of being a Wine Dealer?
I’ve had some of my clients for over three years now and l always look forward to our chats, wine-related and otherwise. Plus it brings me joy to hear how much someone loved a wine. One of my mofos even sent me some self-caught, home-smoked eel because he appreciated my help so much! It doesn’t get much better than that.
What kind of people to you speak to?
A huge range, and I love them all! Some trust me to pick three cases of wine for them monthly, others just want to know when we have a new Chablis. Some are collectors with cellars bigger than their houses, and others are keen to start a wine journey with me. It's all 'research' here!
What’s one thing you wish people knew about their Wine Dealer?
I’m here to help! And love wine as much as you.
What’s your desert island wine?
Barolo (P.S. My desert Island is off the coast of Italy).
What’s the first wine you got drunk on?
Champagne at my best friend’s sister’s 21st! #startasyoumeantocontinue
