Tremblay Marchive 1er Cru Vau de Vey Chablis 2019
The Vau de Vey Premier Cru of Chablis is on an east-facing slope where the gentle morning sun ripens the chardonnay grapes slowly to perfection. The Tremblay family have been working their plots since 1949 and are true masters of the craft. This wine is finely balanced, persistent and beautifully long. Fruit-wise there is mellow stone fruit notes and more lively citrus of lemon zest and grapefruit pith. The wine has the classic oyster-shell minerality that the region is famous for, sitting amongst a nervy and vibrant texture. This is one to watch unfold and evolve in the glass.
“Vau de Vey is perhaps not top of most consumer lists when asked for the key Premier Cru sites, yet it is widely regarded as having outstanding potential. With steep-sided valleys and protection from all but the morning sun, it's a Premier Cru with loads of fresh, mineral, bright citrus characters.”
