Profile
This albariño, from the Rías Baixas subregion of Condado de Tea is named after the Puerta Santa, or “Holy Door” which is the most important access to Santiago de Compostela’s Cathedral. A mythical and special place - it’s not only the end of a famous walk, but also the homeland of the country’s best white wine (made from albariño) and seafood - particularly shellfish. An excellent ambassador of the grape - this wine shows off juicy pears, bright acid and a lick of salinity. It’s getting into rich territory, with notes of honeysuckle and a great texture - so don’t be afraid to sauté those razor clams in heaps of butter with freshly chopped chives to compliment the subtle earthiness of the wine.
