Why do we love this wine?

This would have to be one of the hardest secret deal reviews to write.  It’s excruciating not being able to share this one with you, as it’s a great story.  So again, you’ll have to trust us with this one.  We haven’t let you down yet and this gorgeous wine will blow your socks off, along with any pre-conceptions you may have about rosé.

Profile

Medium-bodied
Soft
Elegant

This wine is set to redefine benchmarks when it comes to complex, savoury, full-throttle, no compromise rosé.

Lolly water it ain’t.  From a revered, old bush vine grenache vineyard comes fruit of exemplary quality.  The winemaker hasn’t fiddled with it too much; to intervene would be a travesty.  Instead it was gently basket pressed with the free run juice left to naturally ferment before sitting on lees then bottled with no further intervention.

Critics have gone to town over this wine; they love it.  If the Rosé Revolution is a call to have more people drinking textural, food friendly rosé then this might just become the flag bearer leading the charge.

The nose is beautiful, as you’d expect from grenache.  A mixed lolly bag of strawberries and rose petals tempered with spice.  The palate is taught with shining acid and buckets of fruit facing off in a tug-of-war.

There’s depth and intensity from the grenache that belies its pretty colour; it packs a punch.  Its structure is breathtaking.  It evolves, morphs and rolls in waves of spiced red berries from the first glass to the last.

I’d love to tell you more about this wine but it’s a story best experienced first hand.  This is going to be one of the stand-out rosés of the summer and will be responsible for many a Mofo, all of us at HQ included, joining the revolution in full force singing its praises.
