Maison Chanzy Les Reuchaux Puligny-Montrachet 2019
Located in an old house that belonged to Vincent Leflaive, the Maison Chanzy in Puligny-Montrachet is a modern producer, crafting pristine wines across some of the best plots in Burgundy. ‘Les Reuchaux’ is only a few meters from the Grand Crus, the appellation was established in 1937 and is famed for its powerful chardonnays. This wine is matured in barriques for ten months, where it goes through malolactic fermentation (giving it a creamy generosity) then heads into tank to rest before bottling. It’s a seriously complex wine with melon and nectarine laced with minerality, vibrant acidity and serious length. It’s begging to be paired with shellfish, smothered in butter.
“That’s quite an effusive nose with a very fine citrus note. A little gas, a lot of energy, mobile, complex and mouth-watering. A delicious wine – a quality Puligny.”
