Juniper Cornerstone Wilyabrup Chardonnay 2020
- Rich, full
- Margaret River
Juniper is back at the ‘fo... and this time, it’s a delicious Margs chardonnay made by one of the most dedicated winemakers, Mark Messenger. Nothing quite sparks the attention of the wine media like chardonnay grown out west; its unique clones are the talk of the town (the world, to be fair) and the most compelling in the glass. We don’t see a lot of this wine - there are limited amounts made - read: it’s going to fly out the door. With twenty consecutive vintages under his belt at Juniper, Mark’s worked his magic in creating another highly awarded chardonnay - and one that keeps shooting for the stars. A Messenger message in a bottle... and this message is a PSA for chardonnay lovers to get in quick.

Region
Margaret River
Margaret River is as elusive as it is beautiful, such that you really need to visit to truly grasp its haunting beauty. Über-premium Cabernet, Chardonnay and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends grow here. 'Margies' only produces 3% of the country's grapes, but commands over 20% of its premium wine market, and hasn't had an off vintage since 2006. You start to realise how often this region is overlooked when you can list brands like Leeuwin, Cape Mentelle, Vasse Felix, and Voyager, not to mention Cullen, Pierro, Moss Wood, and Deep Woods. It's safe to say that it's time for a revisit.
