Granbazán Etiqueta Verde Albariño 2020
- Textural
- Rias Baixas
This is the second vintage we’ve sold of the Etiqueta Verde (Green Label) from Granbazán, who are a best-in-class producer of Galicia’s famed albariño variety, based in Rias Baixas. If it doesn’t look familiar to you, it’s because the 2019 sold out in what seemed like the blink of an eye!
Profile
Albarino is famous for its freshness and compatibility with seafood and when grown and made with skill, can create truely profound wines. Winemaking-wise, this fine drop has seen a touch of skin contact (8 hours) and 4 months on fine lees to support the fruit (pear and white peach) and acid. It’s a wonderfully textural wine, which the producer notes is full of ‘orange blossom, fresh grass and sea breeze’. Love a bit of sea breeze!
Granbazán have not classified their wines as gold, silver or reserve, but rather the colour that describes the wine and the terroir on which it was grown. If aromatic whites with heaps of flavour and a gorgeous palate are your thing - you won’t find better.
Reviews
James Suckling
“I love the tension between fresh herbal notes and white peaches in this stunningly fresh and pristine dry white, which has so much energy and freshness on the crisp palate. Just enough fruity juiciness to make the mid-palate really appealing, allowing its strong, mineral side to leap out at you at the brilliant finish.”
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.
