Giant Steps Applejack Vineyard Chardonnay 2019
- Rich, full
- Yarra Valley
One small step for man and one Giant Step for chardy lovers! Planted on dramatic slopes in premium Yarra Valley soil, this charmer has had a cooler and extended growing season, which has allowed the wine to encapsulate those famous Australian chardonnay characteristics. The grapes have been fermented in indigenous yeast and matured for 10 months in 20% new French oak and 80% older oak barrels. Floral, bright and elegant with zesty citrus and stone fruit flavours, this Applejack chardonnay is one to whip out when the sun is shining. That being said, you can drink this on a cold day too (we don’t discriminate) but we DO recommend being thoroughly parched to allow this crisp, minerally drop to quench your thirst. This pairs perfectly with a healthy (or not so healthy) vegetarian dish.
“Attractive florals and crushed stones here with lemon and grapefruit pith, as well as white peaches and subtle hazelnuts. Some floral elements, too. The palate has superb elegance, coupled with intensity, concentration and focus. Sleek and fresh, lemon-drenched finish. Excellent chardonnay. Linear. Drink or hold.”
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.
