Gabriëlskloof Sauvignon Blanc 2019
- Textural
- South Africa
This delicious sauvignon blanc is from the Estate Range of wines from the most excellent Gabriëlskloof, located near Bot River, outside of Cape Town. They are a quality-focused producer who practice sustainable farming with a mission to find the right variety for each corner of their farm.
Profile
This sauv blanc is made with the same TLC as their top wines, but with immediate approachability - a real ready-to-drinkness. The wine is raised in stainless steel tanks and left on its lees for four months before bottling. That time gives a hit of texture to the otherwise bright and young wine. It’s a great version of sauv with a nose full of lemongrass and pear, and a light-weight, fruit-filled palate with juicy acidity giving the wine length.
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.

Tasting
From the producer
A classically styled Sauvignon Blanc with aromas of cut grass, kiwi fruit, blackcurrant and hints of citrus and tropical fruit. The palate is multilayered with a sophisticated, fresh mouthfeel and a crisp vibrancy with lingering flavours of Cape gooseberry, lime and zesty fruit flowing into a subtle mineral finish.

Crafting
The Sauvignon Blanc 2019 was fermented in stainless steel tanks and left on its lees for four months before bottling. Expect blackcurrant, lemongrass and pear aromas on the nose. The palate is balanced and elegant, while 20% Elgin fruit adds an extra layer of complexity.
