Deux Roches Tradition Saint-Véran 2020
- Textural
- Burgundy
Deux Roches began in 1928 in a small village in the south of Burgundy. At the time, the family practiced polyculture in its farming, but goat’s cheese rather than wine was the primary product. It wasn’t until the 1980s when wine took over as the main focus. Since then, the range has grown considerably and offers some of the best bang for your buck in all of Burgundy.
Profile
Saint-Véran lies on a south-facing ridge of limestone, providing some of the best sunlight and warmth in Burgundy. Once fermented, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation on lees in barrel, making for a rich and full style of chardonnay. ‘Tradition’ is a pale gold wine with rich floral aromas complemented by hints of pear, green apple, peach and apricot, all well-integrated on the palate and reinforced by creamy oak notes, and a medium to long floral finish. For fans of big bold chardy, this is a perfect match.
