Coopers Creek Swamp Road Reserve Chardonnay 2020
- Textural
- New Zealand
Here’s a chardy that receives plenty of attention in the vineyard and the winery. Three (hand) picking runs through only the best part of the vineyard, with 100% barrel fermentation in French oak barrels (30% new), allowing it to get the complete richness works. Each batch was kept separate until the final blending. And then, a quarter of the wine was dropped to the next tier to ensure only the best bits made the final blend. Now that’s a rigorous selection process! And you can see the results in the glass. It turns up the wick with white peach touched with creamy lees complexity and rich integrated oak. The palate is looooong, holding amazing fruit intensity from start to finish. Great texture and oak wrap up the finish. All you need to do is swirl, sniff, taste and repeat.

Alright, so either this doesn't have a specific region (don't box me in!) or it's so secret we can't even tell you the region it comes from. Either way, I'm excited!
