Once every year or so, we get lucky enough to get our hands on some chardonnay from this under-the-radar Gippland producer. It’s always a bit rich, a bit wild and a little nutty (think cashews, not crazy). Here’s the 2018 edition, all vibrant and bright but still true to what we have loved year in and year out. As the sea captain famously said on The Simpsons, “And it wasn’t long before this yearly custom became an annual tradition”. We are fully on board!
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.

From Phillip Island to Strzelecki Ranges, Gippsland is quite a big region, and home to some of the finest Pinot Noir this side of the solar system. From Bass Phillip (Australia's most expensive Pinot, anyone?) to Bellvale (a brilliant relative newcomer), there are many reasons to visit this beautiful maritime appellation.
