Bendigo Hills Pinot Gris 2019
- Central Otago
Bendigo Hills is a project from the esteemed mofo fave, Rock Ferry in Central Otago. They treat the vines with the utmost care, creating wines that are a true expression of the terroir, through organic farming and biodynamic viticulture.
This pinot gris has been nurtured all the way through from vine to glass. All grapes are hand harvested, so you can be sure you are drinking only the finest grapes. Gentle floral aromas and concentrated pear and apricots take the palate by hold. After being delicately aged on lees, a subtle nuttiness shines through with lingering mineral notes giving balance. It is composed and complex, displaying all the wonders Central Otago wine has to offer.
“Beautifully fruited and fragrant, the bouquet shows poached pear, Gala apple, wet limestone and floral aromas, followed by a finely textured palate displaying excellent weight and textured mouthfeel, leading to a lengthy refined finish. Certified organic. At its best: now to 2023.”

Central Otago is the New Zealand's highest and the world's most southerly wine region at latitude 45°S. It has cold winters, hot summers, cool nights and low rainfall, and is ideally suited to Pinot Noir, which covers 80% of plantings. The rest is mainly planted to Chardonnay, with smatterings of Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris. Expect character and intensity as the hallmarks of this marginal region.
