Allram Heiligenstein Riesling 2019
- Kamptal DAC
The importance of the Heiligenstein vineyard in Austria’s Kamptal region can not be overstated. The region’s best producers work with the site, including Schloss Gobelsburg, Bründlmayer and Allram, who we present to you today.
According to the Austrian Wine Marketing Board: “Of particular significance is the 270 million years old perm-desert sandstone with volcanic elements on the Heiligenstein. This is why the wines from the Kamptal – due to differences in exposition, altitude and soils – display very individual characters.” Wow! 270 million years!
This wine has a balance of perfectly ripe fruit, mineral depth and layers of nuance. Acidity drives the wine from start to finish, but is balanced by pineapple, citrus oil and a saline finish. It is a perfect balance of fresh acid, steely minimality and generosity of fruit and texture.

“Light yellow-green, silver reflections. Pineapple underlaid with fresh mandarin zest, delicate peach, floral touch. Firm, close-knit, white tropical fruit, racy acid curve, salty finish, good ageing potential.”
